There is a lot of talk about R520 but what of RV530?
Is this a lowend or mid range VPU.
Are there any rumers going around RV530?
Well, since it's you asking Snipe I'll tell ya all I know about it. :)

You got PM.

RV530 is going to be the most important part for ATI.

Tease!

Actually, I finally broke down and joined B3D because of this thread.

This all the information you all can reveal at the moment?

digi, care to PM me too? ;)
Jeeze, everybody wants something!

Ever notice when you mention publically that you'll PM someone your PM box tends to get full in a hurry.

(I'd ask if it's possible to get bigger PM boxes, but I already know the answer to that one.....it's why we gave everyone at EB bigger PM boxes, me and Hanners kept whining they were too small and to make it bigger for anyone you gotta make it bigger for everyone)

I wonder if ATI will go the fewer ROPs than fragment pipeline path too.

I wouldn't be surprised.

ATI's Xenos is said to have 8 ROPs.

See link and posts down the page

Not that the Xbox VPU will dictate the PC part, but since NVIDIA seems to be headed in that way as well, it seems a logical path.

The GPU only needs enough ROPs to meet screen resolutions, as I understand it. And games look to be more and more pixel shader based.

That's my take on it at least.

I also read about it having a 128-bit memorybus, but I doubt wether that still stands as being correct, seeing as the X800 (12 pipes) has a 256-bit memory interface and costs $199 (for the 128MB version). ATi pretty much pushed the 256-bit memory interface into the mainstream segment. So I wouldn't be surprised if they added it (256-bit bus) to the RV530.

Here's what I've heard so far about it:

RV530 (scheduled for September)
- RV530, Low Profile, DDR1 TSOP, 64 & 128-bit, 64MB & 128MB
- RV530PRO, 4 layer PCB, DDR2, 128-bit, 256MB & 512 MB
- RV530XT, 8 layer PCB, GDDR3, 128-bit
X700 and X600Pro will continue

Now that was from a few months ago, so I wouldn't be suprised if they changed it.
