RSX and HDMI

tried some research on this, but couldn't find a clue about this.

i recently read about HDMI 1.3, and found out that colour depth has increased to 30-bit, 36-bit and 48-bit from 24-bit on previous HDMI specifications.

Is this necessary for gaming in terms of visuals and sounds??? i heard RSX renders in 24bit depth colour max anyway, and that 1.3 is only for movies assuming that movie studios make movies in depth of 1.3.

i don't mind being this thread locked. i just wanted to make sure about PS3 and HDMI. apologies if this causes any problems

cheers

True...

Partially true. You also need 1.3 if you want to support bit-stream transport of DTS-HD and Dolby TruHD.

Higher colour output is mostly there for movies. You need a fancy TV to read them, which aren't released yet. I think KK said PS3 will support peculiar colour outputs, but if that does happen it'll be of benefit to only a small percentage of 1080p set owners, which is a small percentage of HDTV owners, which is a small percentage of TV owners...
