On Magic-Box:

"Nintendo of Europe Managing Director Davis Gosen announced the successor of GameCube will launch in Europe in 2006."

Hopefully we'll have a little more than that from other news sites soon. ^_^ I can't find anything else offhand.

I guess if Sony sticks to their timetables, Nintendo won't beat them to market as they said they wanted to. But also launching... in Europe first? Guess EU's gonna get more lovin' next generation. :)

<laughs> True. Wasn't thinking about it that way since it's late and I haven't slept. :p Since I don't remember seeing Nintendo announce anything official otherwise, I was connecting 'first announce' to 'first launch.' I can't see them launching outside of Japan first either, which is why I thought it weird.

On Sony's timetable, I don't think they've said anything DIRECTLY, but from certain releases and general impressions, the PS3 is supposed to come out in 2005. I remember them firmly denying rumors of an early (June '03) launch, so I would assume nowhere near there. It's been commonly talked about as Q4 2005 on here, though. (With lots of skepticism, of course. ;) )

well given history, consoles are released a year sooner in japan than in europe/us.
So that would mean 2005 for Japan, and 2006 for Europe.

anyway, we'll see when it's done... errh released.

Where does it say it will be launching Europe first? It simply states when the console will be launched in Europe, not that it will launch in Europe first.
Or was there more to the news story?

Edit: Oh, you realised already. Ah well.

OK. Nothing in particular,
But 2Q2005 AND 1Q2006 are good large Blu-ray dates that are important to Sony.

Yes, yes, was taken to task already. From now on, I just post things without conjecture when I've been up for over 30 hours. :p :)

cause Sony now has a timetable......?? since when?

there might be a "general guideline" on when PS3 "might" come out... but i dont think they're telling their staff to work around the clock because they want PS3 in the shop on -put date here-
