Average of 30 fps means MIN fps in the teens or lower, which is not acceptable for a shooter where slow down occur during intense moments, IMO
To YOU it might be, but please don't try to generalize and make it seem like a fact that it's unacceptable.
Sure if I was still competing professionally in FPS leagues and tournaments, I'd find min fps in the teens to be unacceptable.
However, "I" am perfectly happy dipping into the teens in a single player game if the graphics are nice enough. "I" don't have to feel like I'm trying to prove anything. I can freely just play and enjoy the scenery, graphics, and any physics that might be employed. Likewise, I can also be quick to find fault with bad implementations of things.
I have friends that are happy even with fps dipping into single digits. Hell, they sometimes never finish a game, yet are very happy to have played it for however long they could.
I also have friends that are quite unhappy if FPS dips below 30. They are quite happy to play ALL modern games at the lowest settings possible in order to have the smoothest gameplay possible.
Either way, while I may not like Crysis as a "game" I certainly do hold them up higher than most other companies for giving me the option of cranking up the visuals far past what current generation hardware (at the time of launch) could play it at.
And if I wanted a smooth gaming experience I also had the option of cranking it down.
However, now that we are soon to have R700 level of performance available and currently have GTX 280 level of performance, even those ultra high settings are starting to get playable. Now if only CPU's were keeping up with GPU advances.
