R520 launch delayed?

...it'll be nothing like the Xenon graphics (i.e. remove the idea of "pipes" for Xenon. But if you're really stuck on 'em, then you can probably consider 3 or 8 or 48 as some descriptions, going by the current talk, but not 24).

Given much thought to what the new touchstones and metrics ought to be to help rationalize conversations about this stuff? Invent your own and start pushing them in these upcoming reviews, and who knows you might just move the conversation in a useful direction.

Well, i'm not stuck on it, and you sure have more inside information than me. We will (perhaps) see and know tonight for those still awake :)

If true, I believe that ATi will also show R520 to the public @ computex ... and don't wait weeks, if not months like the Inq says.

http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=23101

Does this report supercede the previous? Who knows!!

Any sense from your contacts if ATI are holding to their previous intention (the Cebit report) to have a real launch with large scale availability shortly thereafter? Because the way to straddle these two Inq reports (and, who knows, it might be entirely unworth the effort to do so) would be to paper launch a tech preview at Computex, with real launch to follow later.

Inq seems to think this is where NV is headed, based on the simultaneous assertion that they will launch at Computex but won't be available until the second half of the third quarter (which is late August by my lights).

Tho as someone pointed out, possibly this is just Inq firing the 12 gauge at the target, with the intent of retroactively pointing at the one pellet that actually got close.

Ok, how's about I give you a hint since ya missed it above:

ATI will have multi-GPU technology, R520 and a new motherboard chipset on show at Computex this year, the INQ has discovered.

Our secret moles in Canada, who have been posing as mounties whilst extracting information from our top-secret sources about the new releases in Taiwan.

The very same source who told that R520 is delayed until fall in the firstt place.

Forgive me for not keeping up with all of the internet, but 3? I know 8 pixels per clock and 48 ALUs, but I can't figure out 3. 3-pass, 8x MSAA?

R520 is canceled! Major debacle for ATI!

Still life goes on....
Yup, they cancelled crossfire/AMR too. Bummer, but it's still all good. 8)

Well, seemed like the thing to do once they finalized the MS/Sony/NV/ATI merger talks.
