Questions on GDDR4 Ram...

Is there any specs released for this Memory card?

One guy told me that it's:

512-bit GDDR4 @ 3.2GHz = 204.8 GB/s

Is that true? Is there a link for these specs...thanks...

GDDR4 isn't a card, it's a technology. There are no production uses for GDDR4 that I'm aware of yet, I'm not even sure that it's in mass production. Even if it were, 3.2ghz is WAY up there, I believe the first samples mentioned were going to be in the neighborhood of 1.8ghz (and that's the "effective" speed, not the actual speed of 900mhz)

Also, I believe the individual GDDR4 chips are meant to be 32-bit components. Thus, to get a full 512 bit datapath, you'd need 16 chips. I'm not entirely sure I remember that right, but I think that's correct...

It's not mentioned on JEDEC's site (at least not in the registered member area). As has been hinted at before, because the consortium involves graphics IHVs we might see a GDD4-esque spec introduced before it becomes an official standard (as was the case with Samsung's GDDR2, IIRC).

I remember reading somewhere (on this board IIRC) that GDDR4 is basically an ATI spec, and they submitted it to JEDEC for approval a few months ago. 1.6 GHz (3.2 GHz effective) is a lifecycle projection for GDDR4 which you won't see soon.

As GDDR3 only goes up to 800MHz we need something beyond this limit. This is GDDR4. But we have to wait for it until late 2005/early 2006.

I have heard from Micron engineers that they are working on GDDR4 now and have been for about a month now.
Sorry guys thats all I know for now and will post more when I hear more.
