PSP firmware v4.05 to be available soon.

Hrmm.. I sold my PSP a couple of months back due to the system seemingly peaking with GoW and FF:CC. There's precious little on the horizon that make keeping it worthwhile. For those hanging onto their PSP, what are the games you're waiting for?

Got a very decent price for it too... putting it towards my "convince the GF that a Wii is worth it" fund :p

I use my first gen PSP almost daily for music and slideshow playback. Gave up on transcoding videos.

Occassionally (when travelling), I play PSP games. The last one was Patapon. The next purchases are likely LocoRoco 2 and Patapon 2. I sometimes listen to the Internet radio (BBC Radio) but not often.

The problem with PSP is it does not have a unifying concept (like Playstation Home + PSN on PS3). It is also pretty standalone (No DLNA integration with PCs). The sync manager is ok but I have not used it for ages since I copied all my media to a 4Gb flash long ago. They need to release a media store for PSP fast. :p

At the moment, RemotePlay is still not well utilized yet.

Since I own a first gen PSP in US, I have not tried Skype or any of the Japanese accessories and PSP Spots, nor the European Go! services.

My killer app for PSP is "Patapon". Whenever my little guy wail, he'd cheer up immediately when I pull out the PSP. He loves Patapon.

EDIT: Hmm... firmware still not out yet. The last time Jeff Rubenstein said "available soon", the new firmware appeared just 5 minutes after his post.

I use my PSP all the time for all sorts of stuff. There's tonnes of games that I've still to play, and plenty that I like going back to, but even more I just use it for downloading and listening to podcasts, recently also a bit of DVD-to-PSP stuff for my wife.

The game I'm looking forward to most is Loco Roco 2. Loco Roco 1 is one of my all-time favorite games and I can't wait for a second one. I'm hoping it will get a PSN version too. I haven't gotten around to Patapon either, and Patapon 2 is probably coming this year too, with 4 player online and offline multiplayer apparently with some very cool stuff.

OT:

is there any way to get to the PS Store from the PSP to download demos and videos etc.

Or do you have to use the PS3?

I bought my PSP slim silver just to be able to play Crisis Core :p I have put more than 40 hours into it and still nowhere near done in beating all the missions and the story line. I even geeked out and purchased the game guide! I also have Need 4 Speed for it and thats a fairly challenging and fun game to play. Perfect for when I am on the plane flying back home to California from Georgia.

You can also use the store on PC. No direct way to use it from the PSP at the moment.

Hah ! I clocked well over 99 hours in Metal Gear Ac!d (That's the maximum it would display) before I lost my first PSP on a flight. There are indeed some nice games on PSP. I have not tried Crisis Core yet (fearing it would take too much time). Usually I prefer short PSP games.

As expected the 4.05 wasn't just about the visualisers, but also includes the necessary support for the video store PSP integration.
