PSP & DS sales prediction for this year

OK, so let me get this straight, the Xenon fans say that backwards compatibility is not important. The Revolution fans say that backwards compatibility is important. The PS2 fans said that backwards compatibility was important. The PS3 fans say that backwards compatibility is important but the PSP fans say that backwards compatibility is not important?

Just have a cup'o'tea and everything will be fine.

THe PSP can not be backwards compatible, because it has no backwards to be compatible with. Thus it is not important that PSP is not backwards compatible.

Come PSP2, then it will be important.

Read carefully what I said. I said that the PSP fans are saying that backwards compatibility is not important. Therefore, if Sony announced tomorrow that the PS3 would not be backwards compatible with the PS2, PS3 fans would begin to say that backwards compatibility is not important.

The PSP is backward compatible (to the pre-release PSPs) and backward compatibility is important!

Everyone happy? ;)

No, it was never an argument (or at least a major one) that if you're on a budget, it would be wise to invest to PS2 and play your old games on it. The backwards compatibility was a plus and bonus, I don't believe many bought the PS2 thinking they'd then save money not needing to buy new games.

Of course it was . It was what many justified buying it for. I remember the discusions .

I'm not saying people bought it and thought they'd save money not buying new games. I'm saying people bought it knowing that the lackluster or crappy ass games at launch(name me 3 worth while launch games for ps2 ) would be off set by the fact that they already had good games to play that were new (From the ps1) or replay thier older games .

In that case, one has already made up his mind which system he's going to buy´and support. Unless you're buying on impulse, that just doesn't make sense. You'd be much wiser holding back buying the new backwards compatible device, playing with your old one your old games and wait until the new device's price drops or you have saved enough money.

Not at all as I can get a nintendo ds , play the metriod demo , play mario ds and all my game boy games . As if i waited for the psp to come out I may have a bigger buget though , i may also have more things to buy in that other month.

For anyone with a gameboy advance library . Buying the nintendo ds even with 1 or 2 games is a better value than buying a psp and 1 or 2 games .

No, you're not on a budget.
- your dad buys you everything you want, you've said it yourself

Sometimes , but its hard for me to ask him for a psp when he is sending me to london and then aulstraila (sp?) 2 months later .

or your friend hands you pre-copies of new games

I only know an xbox rep (Which gets my sister pre games ) or i get into betas cause they love me :)

or you arrange a raid to the New Jersey duplicating factory with your 12 nude strippers

Yes , that is true , But even the 12 strippers need to rest sometime !

That wasn't quite the argument though. And who would sell their GBA?

Well that was the argument of the guy I replied to. He was basically saying that if you already have a GBA then GBA compatability may not be so attractive. So those people may just want to keep there GBA to play there older games and get a PSP for something different. Which is a legitimate point of course. I was just pointing out the other side of the coin, the advantages of backwards compatability to people who already own a GBA. The convergence of old and new games into one system. Which gives people less to carry, less to remember when your rushing out somewhere ect. As well as allowing people to effectively get a discount on there DS by selling the GBA-SP if they feel they no longer need it (which some will, and of course some won't).
