PS3, Wii, X360 real life sizes

So why is the slimline PS2 cool and the Wii not? Does the PS2 styling (glossy band for example) help? Does a device have to be under a certain size to achieve coolness, and Wii is just over that? Or does everyone who thinks the Wii is dull also think the slimline PS2 is dull? I think Wii's okay. I guess the similarity with a drive takes a little away from it's classiness. They haven't tried to create a console look in a small form factor, rather than fit a console into a small form factor, I think. Perhaps they should have had a CE goods type clock display on the front, with a flip down front-plate behind which is the drive slot? That would strangely be cool without changing much at all about the system.

Design is a strange thing.

Exactly! The absurd part is how many people claim it's brilliant looking! I feel like telling those people, so you must think your square PC DVD burner is sexy as hell, too, then.

It's not terrible or anything, but it's a box. Nothing more nothing less.

Have you seen all the awards Apple wins with their designs? Its just a white rectangle! Its just a wheel! Simple is better, I thought that was always clear when it came to design.

Considering the PS3 has the PSU inside the box, that's not all that bad! :smile:

I'd rather have it external to spare gerth of that thing. I for one think the PS3 design is terrible. Looks like a giant black Foreman Grill.

Agreed, the PS3 looks terrible and the Wii looks pretty meh as well.

Wow, the Wii looks incredibly worse in a non-marketting picture.

I think it's safe to say that once again, none of the consoles are anything to look at. Big shock.
