All new consoles launch with a big list of launch games, but for some reason i can only ever find a small fraction actually on the shelves when the new console comes out, this happened with all consoles released that i can remember.
Oct 1 for US... Nov for Europe? Pretty much the same as PS2 then... They better not release in 2007 in Europe or... or... or i'll bore everyone to death with my love life stories till it releases!
Sony now taking pre-orders for 30 PS3 games

Although late to the scene, Sony is trying to put some pressure on Microsoft by one-upping their initial lineup for the PlayStation 3. Sony is promising to have thirty game titles on pre-order, available on October 1st. That's still a ways away from now, and there is a lot of fear that the launch of the PS3 will be met with just as many troubles as the 360 did. If Sony does pull it off, however, that's an impressive list of games. It'll be very interesting to see exactly how many of these titles Sony will have readily available, not just on paper. You can pre-order these titles already, if you so wish, at Sony's website.

I just got a GREAT idea that I should sell to Sony marketing!
Why don't they just release the PS3 with two or three games at launch, and let you preorder from those 30 or something "launch period" games when you get the PS3.
They'd still get away with that list as "launch period games" and probably could even add those preordered MGS4's, GTA's, GT's etc. to their "games attach ratio" numbers they always boast when a console is launched!!
They're not doing it though, are they not....

No way....I mean Gamestop must have gotten internal numbers and promises from directly from Sony! If people pre-order through gamestop, and the stuff isn't there on Oct. 1 then that just proves how SONY is SCREWING CUSTOMERS!!!

Curious. Why are so keen on Lair? We know nothing about it, other than it has nice dragons. Is nice graphics all it takes to look forward to game? the fact that the damn thing is as mysterious as the console its launching on is intriguing.
sure, we've got FPS', RPG's, Fighters..but i dont even know how Lair will play-its just an enigma. >_>
regarding the topic at hand....no, i dont believe that the PS3 will launch with all those games.

As for the list, I'd say you've gotta take that with more than just one grain of salt...
