Ouch. How can a display have 116ms of additional lag? It means there's more than 7 full frames that are accumulated in some memory somewhere. Maybe they enabled the motion processing options on the TVs. My projector have less than 16ms lag normally, but when I enable the motion processing (high frame rate), the lag is about 60ms.

100+ms isn't unusual for TV's with significant processing and no way to turn it off.
I said at the time the Nintendo low latency for the tablet didn't indicate a fantastic job by Nintendo, more it reflected how shitty most modern TV's are for gaming.

So we can expect you guys to best them with your Vita+PS4 implementation? ;)

Wow, I always knew there were issues with some TVs and lag, but I never thought it was that bad, I can't imagine why they need more than a frame or two for anything except motion interpolation.

CNET just publised a test. Hey, I'm lucky, it looks like my 16ms projector is a rarity and a keeper!!!

(what do you expect from the only company making both TVs and game consoles)

I dunno, buying a $2000+ TV based on input lag instead of picture quality? I think that person should just go game on a cheap $200 TN monitor at that point.

Well it depends.
LCD TV usually have higher display lag and are not good enough for gaming IMO but still display lag is usually way below 100ms.
My Plasma TV, bought for less than €700 two years ago, has 21ms of display lag.

What do you mean "instead of" ?
Paying 2000 for a TV for gaming, and ending up with 120ms lag with no "gaming mode", is a pretty bad situation.

But suppossely Gaikai compression/streaming algorithms are better than the Nintendo propietary ones, right?. Sony paid a lot for them!.

I think DF mentioned that WiiU doesn't treat the frames much. They rely on the bandwidth for their second screen feature. Gaikai can work over smaller bandwidth, but we will have to see how well it compares when it's released.

In remember one nintendo direct in which the streaming tech engineer talked about streaming the image in tiles.
