Prey 2 coming

they did rune as well
i liked rune

Me too, also the first game which convinced (in coop-mode) my wive, albeit like 8 years later. I remember sitting ina dark room and having my yaws drop from the phosphorous plant-life in the caverns ... at that time I had my GeForce 2 GTS with 3d glasses, unbelievable gameplay. Never had that kind of feeling again.

But maybe that's because of my viking-genes. :D

Scans are out from some Spanish magazine. Can't see anything in them, too small. Anyways, looks nothing like the first game which, I think was very different from other shooters and played a lot of gimmicks with the "scale" of objects/levels. Hope the creativity has trickled down to the sequel too. As of now, the scans show nothing to link it with the original Prey !

 at least the Prey protagonist is not faceless.

Sucks that Tommy is gone. I loved the refreshing personality for once. Especially in Prey 1 when he see what they "did" to his girlfriend and yells something like "what the f**k did you do to her you bastards".

That simple line there made me feel more empathy for that character than any other FPS character in a looonnng time.

I wish! At least you could change your graphics settings in the "other" game.:p

Prey 2 drops portals because devs didn’t want to make “too much of a puzzle game”

Umm...

Btw, interview from 2008:
So, while Portal impressed the heck out of us, it has also inspired us to return the favor to Valve and hopefully leap frog them as they did us. We believe we have new ideas for portals that will keep the portal race interesting.
In the original Prey, the lead character, Tommy, was too reluctant, and didn't realize his hero status until late in the game. So, in the new game we're making him a hardened, take-charge character who's learned fast from his previous experience, and ready to accept his status as a galactic savior. We're definitely beefing up the combat—expect more enemies onscreen simultaneously versus 3-4 in the original—as well as the spirit powers. And while the original was too much of a corridor shooter, Prey 2 will have much more variety and wide-open areas: think CoD4 to get a good idea of what we're shooting for in terms of open-world look and feel.

 The Splinter Cell one is perfect.

There's more:

Yes that is incredibly stupid to get rid of portals. But in a way it is understandable since people think valve invented portals and now jump pads too. Seriously though I was excited before now I really don't care and don't plan to buy it unless it is otherwise stellar.

Hmm well whatever. We'll see if it turns to be at least as good as its very Doom3-a-like predecessor.

Focus groups the bane of society... I saw someone saying it was heavily inspired by mirrors edge. If that turns out to be true then I forgive them the portals.

I absolutely love the ability to climb stuff they are putting in, but I always worry that it won't make sense. I hate thinking "Why can I climb this and not that?" Hopefully they come up with good ways to make it clear to the player.

Any at E3 play this?
3rd person or 1st / context or switchable?
Only bit I have found on it states it plays and looks just like the trailer.

What, no one posted the new trailer?

BTW, it's worth watching the interview linked by KKRT above. There's a lot of gameplay footage in there that looks like the trailer, and as the dev says, everything you see in the trailer is stuff you can do in the game.

I kind of don't want to watch it. I like the idea already and don't want to spoil the game any more. I just hope like I said they make it clear what a person can and cannot scale.

So dont watch and trust my words - it looks awesome and similar to CG trailer :)

Hearing some really good stuff about this, so will definitely keep it on my radar.
