Possible names for next gen cards

I am pretty sure the R300 will be released as a Radeon 9500, any one have any clue as to what the NV30 will be called?. I am sure they will drop the GeForce name.

I believe it will be called Eclipse. Any one else heard this?

Much as it goes against the DX-number naming convention, I believe ATi's R300 and RV250 will be Radeon 10k and 9k respectively.

And nVidia's will be called the "McGPU" due to an incredibly lucrative deal they strike close to the launch date.

Well, since we are guessing, lets think of something Interesting

Perhaps:

R300 = ATI X

I like that name cause it is the Roman Numeral for 10, which would indicicate kinda Radeon 10000 and also would elude to the ArtX technology in the R300. Kinda catchy.

NV30 = I don't know about Eclipse, I kinda like it, but it reminds me of the car, the Mitsibishi Eclipse which is not a good car IMO. So I dunno what I'd name the NV30 right now, something that would kinda elude to 3dfx would be nice.

i wouldnt be so sure it is 9500.. if its true that they are using .15 and want to shift to .13 ASAP they might call it 9200 or so and the .13 Chip 9500 (or 9500 for the .15 and 9800 for the .13 or something like that)

The original leaked rumors about the NV30 referrenced the card as "Omen".

IMO that's a decent name but who knows what the marketing monkeys will come up with....

If ATI were to stick to their current convention then the r300 would be 9500 and the r250 would be an 8x00. I think it will probably be 8600.

9500 and 9800 would sound more sensible IMHO. They won't want to give people the impression that there'll be something better around the corner worth waiting for, and 9200 (with the 8500 and 7500 brands already established) would IMO do just that.
