@Davros What software put up that alert screen for you, was it IE or some anti-malware package? I've never seen anything like that before.

In other news, speaking of bad ads, all the ads I ever seem to get at B3D these days - a tech website - are debt consolidation/loans, and travel ads... Why can't I get ads that are relevant to the context of this website, they seem to be regular goggle adwords ads, and I haven't blocked goggle from tracking me, so they should have a firm grasp of my surfing habits. It's almost exclusively either tech or gaming, with some news and random stuff thrown in for good measure. *shrug* So much for all the paranoia we see about being spied upon online by big corporations, eh? ;)

I get ads for some Muslim dating website - "meet muslim girls!" - relatively often...... And that really couldn't be further away from my browsing history!

Or they really do know your browsing habits and are trying for a conversion theorapy approach...

did the admin changed the google ads? now there a new "X" button that i can click and report to google as "bad ads"

I didn't change anything (only just seen this thread!). I'll report the bad URLs to Google. Please let me know if you see more, sorry for the inconvenience.

Also, controversial maybe, but feel free to block ads here if you want, I don't actually mind. You could all switch them off and it wouldn't make any difference to whether I'd keep the lights on, and I firmly believe there are better ways to support independent sites like this than ads.

As for them not being targeted, I haven't spent any time customising them in any way. I'm sure there are ways for me to tell AdSense to do better, but I haven't looked yet.

I now run the ads myself, FYI. Tech Report used to run them for me, but I switched over in December to doing them myself. So there's a noob at the controls now, do bear with me!

still getting hijacked

Its hard to tell the ads that are the culprit becuse there are 2 on a b3d page on at the top one at the bottom
last time got hijacked an add for asda was at the top
but this one was at the bottom and ive seen it many times when ive been hijacked so my money is on this one

just had a b3d page with 2 adverts there was no hijack, I refreshed the page and the bottom advert changed to the one in the pic and then I was hijacked so I'm pretty certain its the add in the pic

yep did many refreshes and it appears im getting hijacked when that add turns up

@Gerry you also from ole Blighty like Davros? If so, that might mean it's a regional thing somehow. I've not seen this ad, and not been hijacked - yet. *touch wood*

@Rys Good to know you might improve the ads. That'd be helpful - I don't actually mind ads at all as long as they don't misbehave by slapping stuff in front of content or playing sound or stuff like that. I've yet to enable adblock at all after 15 years on the internet... Ads for things I'm interested would mean more clicks = win win for us both. :)

Please no intrusive things that open up in your face, or play sounds from somewhere you can never find!

Drives me INSANE.

I rather pay to use the site.

I've added a bunch of blocked advert URLs to B3D'd AdSense config, including those reported in this thread, and I've asked (as have many others) Google to remove them from AdSense entirely.

Please keep reporting them if you see them, really sorry for the inconvenience.
