Playing DVDs from other region

Is there a free way to play DVDs from other regions? AnyDVD costs 49 Euros which is too expensive for the few DVDs I want to play from other regions.

You might be able to update your dvd drive firmware to be region free. Most drives have hacked firmware available, I believe they call it RPC1. Check Here.

Thanks! Using this app to make my Sony(rebadged lite-on) DVD drive region free along with this app to change the region code for the software DVD player did the trick.
