Playb3yond

Hmm, yet again they seem to be implying CELL has 8 spus. Anyone at liberty to confirm or deny such a thing?

First there was the flyer that said 8 spus, then there was tretton saying it did 256 million trillion calculations a second (which is obviously bullshit, but 256 is the exact glfop rating for a fully working CELL processor) and now the smarter clip says something similar on the playb3yond site.

PPE + 7SPUs = 8 Processors.

Very slick videos. I wonder where and how they're going to be aired beyond the website, they deserve wider exposure. It's thematically similar to the Euro ones, but better..sort of like a third generation, sophisticated version of the "Do not underestimate the power of playstation" message, explaining why you shouldn't ;)

I think in this case a better analogy would be a woman with 2 tits but one doesn't function properly, ie. does not milk.

Who'd have thought two times 30 sunflowers would be a whole field full of them?

Slick and cheesy - the hallmarks of Sony's great PR!

Yeah. These days it's quite funny to watch these kind of videos... The voice and all the seriousness reminded me of the Marks&Spencer commercials "it's not just food, it's M&S food"...

"It's not High Definition, it's Higher Definition"

I might just be a cynical witch, but does anyone older than 16 fall for this kind of "slick&cool" PR anymore? In the real world, not on here of course. And i'm not just talking about Sony here of course.

Actually that point reminded me more of Sesame Street. High Definiton, Higher Definition, Highest Definiton.

I guess so. Heck, you're the marketting guy! Go ask your lecturer. I think technobabble works well on a portion of pseudo-geek; the kind who doesn't know much but thinks they know a lot and tells everyone else in the playground/changing room/coffee bar how it is. So what's posted here probably works it's way through the public psyche by becoming 'advice from learnéd friends.'

And as for being cynical, I can't understand how any PR or marketting works! But you only need watch an episode of Derren Brown to see how readily people can be manipulated without a single bit of sense or reason getting in the way.

They are good at advertising.

No worse than MS current campaign.... "next gen is already here" a direct reference to sony saying "next gen doesn't start until we say so"

Technically speaking both are correct, PS3 is capable of high def. than the 360 (at the minute) and next gen is already here by the simple fact the 360 is not the original xbox.l

Very well done and slick, but also extremely cringeworthy if you are truly familiar with the technical aspects. But then, so is all PR. I'll still look forward to the others just for the production values ;)

The SCEA ads are slick, really really slick, but if you knew just a fraction about what they're talking about you can immediately smell the BS.

Those ignorant enough will, and that therefore means the entire chav populace stand a good chance of doing so. But this is the US campaign, the SCEE adverts are not very good compared to these.
