*** Place your bets - what sort of 3D Marks will NV30 get?

This is pure speculation okay. We hear that NV30 will have a 256 bit bus so that probably means a 32 GB/sec bandwidth. We hear the GPU itself is probably going to be clocked at over 400MHz.

So on a powerful AMD or INTEL CPU , that is NOT o/c what range of benchmarks in 3D Mark 2001SE do you folk guess it might achieve?

My unreasoned guess without knowing how CPU limited 3D mark is would be say 21,000 3D marks at first release.

Anywhere from 18,000 - 30,000 is probably feasible given my lack of knowledge as to how much the CPU will hold things back, and whether NV30 will be limited under Directx 8 (vs 9).

What do you folk guess it might do?

Oh seriously O/C (like the liquid nitrogen boys do) I could imagine seeing towards 25K - 30K marks - time will tell.

I'm guessing at least 25% higher than 9700, but that'd probably only be in non-CPU-limited situations. Maybe a P4-3GHz on a 533MHz FSB?

Gosh, you guys are vague! ;)

My bet is on 18743, no more no less!
On the same setup, a R9700 has 18023!
Not sure about splash-screens...

Edit: I noticed my magic eightball was mightly blurry, it might be 18745 after all...

My guess is that they won't release it until they can guarantee at least a 10% higher score than 9700 -- using whatever method necessary.

I'd have to say about a 20-25% increase due to the extra texture engine alone compared to the R9700.19,500-22,500 shouldn't be too suprising on standard benchmark procedures.

Well, there you have it. Forget all the possible legitimate reasons why an NV30 might cruise through this benchmark, due to hardware features (bandwidth, fill-rate, pipelines, advanced HSR, etc).

It will simply come down to nVidia exerting some pull with Madonion to ensure higher performance.

Whatever Nvidia and Madonion have to do to get whatever test areas that the Nv30 excells in to make up a Larger part of the score..

In other words.. it will likely be faster in 3dmark.

Hellbinder, this is exactly the sort of...post..that causes flame threads to start.
Can you please moderate the conspiracy theories a little?
I'm bein serious here, ok?

5000 maybe 6000.

3dmark 2002/3 of course. Since its probable DX9 will be out then the next version of 3dmark will probably be out too :p

If the upgrade in demands is the same as 2000-2001 then expect our gf4s and 8500s to get around 3000 .

In 2001 then barely more than the r300 (which will likely be getting on for 20000 at christmas with faster cpus). Its getting pretty cpu limited.

? Is the score to be with or without splash screen detection.
And will it concern an Intel CPU or one of the "false idols".
