PGR3 textures

The resolution looks much lower than the original building shots. Is this the result of too much LOD scaling?

The second screenshot is a capture from a video encoded in WMV9.
You can't make texture detail comparisons with this kind of material.

Isn't the PGR video from the old E3 build?
I'm not sure there's even such thing as an E3 build, since they just showed a rendered video (Using in-game assets) at E3.

Different parts of the scenery will be textured differently. That certainly seems the case in PGR2 from screenshots. Wait to see the same building in-game to see if there's been any texture reductions - compare like vs. like.

Takes me to a motion capture for dummies page.

You have to scroll down now.

I liked the copy/paste better ;) :p

Anyhoo... yeah there is a bit of blurring. Should look fine on a TV...no?

Let's put it this way...

If you are admiring the pretty textures on the buildings, you must not be interested in playing the game.

True enough ;)

I think those civilians need more diverse animations (although it is great that very few of them are replicated). Right now they're praising the Holy Gods of Racing.

hm... just noticed...the Chinese guy in the front of the screengrab is replicated in the next set of stands a bit higher up and he's doing the same animation...or at least he's in the same position. Although... the one in the next set of stands has shorts instead. An issue with Geometry Instancing? and/or...the engine picks from a set of body parts, slaps them all together... give the same animation to the same head?

I'm really not that fussed about spectator behavior. In racing games you generally don't notice, they whizz past too fast. As long as they don't look like cardboard cutouts it's a big plus on what we currently have. Plus it shouldn't take much to offset animations by a few frames in the final build.

You can't compare a nice crisp pic taken from a dev kit to a frame ripped from a vid. :?

I don't think ANY other game would fair any better under the same kind of "comparison." ;)
