It seems like the full Gainward 6800 line up has an ETA date of 29/5/04 including the "Golden Samples" at Komplett.no

    datorbutiken.com (scandinavian site)

    PNY 6800 GT 256 MB: 4749 SEK ($616)
    PNY 6800 Ultra 256 Mb: 5749 SEK ($746)

    Connect 3D X800 Pro: 4749 SEK ($616)

    That's with 25% VAT included.

Non of them in stock though. Komplett said June 1'st for the X800 but that was unconfirmed.

In France the cheapeast prices are:
6800: 349€ (in line with Nv recommandations)
6800 GT: 499€ ( same reseller who boosts prices (+50€ here) before release)
    6800 U: 548€ (1€ less than recommanded prices :D)

No prices for X800 available atm

    Slight update:

    www.komplett.se

    Sapphire X800 Pro 256 Mb ETA: 2004-05-26 (unconfirmed): 477€

    Gainward 6800 Ultra 256 Mb, 430 MHz ETA: 2004-05-29 (unconfirmed): 668 €

My experience of "unconfirmed" is that i might be available by that time. But not likely :)

X800 Pro (Sapphire): €380 is the lowest I found so far in Germany (oddly enough, most vendors list it at €420-460, one even at €499).

6800U: Leadtek €525, PNY €575, most other 6800U cards are around €550 except Gainward, they are OMGWTFshootthechildren expensive.

16% VAT included, none in stock.

This makes the $340 price for the Pro we've seen at that US online shop believable.

Haven't seen any 6800 GT or nU or X800 XT prices so far.

Komplett UK have Sapphire and Powercolour X800Pros for ~ £300 (give or take £5) inc 17.5% VAT.

Ebay have them on pre-order at £350.

don't you think NV45 and R480 are going to have slightly different cores than NV40 and R420?

I don't mean new architectures (these are just refreshes afterall)

I expect a similar enhancement as we saw from NV30 to NV35 or at least like R300 to R350.

but then again, NV30 was bad and needed the changes it got with NV35.
(256-Bit bus, 2x the FP performance in shaders or pipes or whatever)

so probably then, the NV45 will not be as different to NV40 as NV35 was to NV30.

btw is it confirmed that ATI will have an R480 or something higher than R420, before R500 ?

No, but I don't see an R500 before spring '05, and possibly fall '05. I would have to assume that ATI will have at least one speed bump / twaek / refresh between the R420 and R500 at the high end.

Sure, but a new demo doesn't by definition mean new tech. ;)

yeah I completely expect at least one refresh-tweak of R420 before R500/R520 comes. R500/R520 probably spring or summer 2005, but could also be fall. certainly we won't see R500/R520 this year.

I suppose that the big innovation will be SM 3.0 in 12-18 months.

Well first of all this states about being best to date - also applies to ATI - but I disagree with one thing - I believe that the ship version of cards will have improvements over the prototypes.. How much improvements they will be, it is anybody's guess..

Also another factor is Direct X 9.0c, what kind of effect will it have on these cards - we all know about PS 3.0 but ATI might also have something up there slieve for DX 9.0c.

Also it also concievable that some of the features of these cards are not unlock until they release a new driver which will unlock the functionality.

As for NV45 and R480, I would expect some hardware changes but not signficant architexture changes. PCI Express must also be factor in.

Of course that just my opinions of discussion.

The games i want, D3, S.T.A.L.K.E.R and HL2 i guess will be out in the time with the refresh part soo therefore i think NV45 is a very interesting part to talk about. Both NV40 and X800 are awesome cards but we must look forward don´t we? :p
