Whereas one awaited an advertisement from here two to three months, NVIDIA decided in front of the pressure of ATI to launching its NV35, known from now on under the commercial name of GeForce FX 11600. Why 11600? Quite simply because the number of pipe is doubled to reach 8, just like the band-width memory which passes to 32 Go/S because of a bus 256 bits GDR-II to 500 MHz.
While reaching a frequency of 600 MHz, GeForce FX 11600 heats less than its predecessor. It is indeed engraved not by TSMC but by IBM, which has a technology of engraving in 0.13µ more succeeded, in particular because of use of low-k dielectric (cf this news of it y' is 3 years old). Cooling, although occupying in height the equivalent of two slots, is more standard as this photo catch by our care testifies some on CeBIT at the time of our meeting with NVIDIA.
The performances are impressive, since the chart reaches according to documents' of NVIDIA 7680 points with 3DMark03 (45% of more than one 5800 Ultra), 192,6 fps under Q3 Arena in 1600*1200 AA 4x/Aniso 8x and 97.3 fps under UT 2003 in flyby in the same resolution, that is to say 2.1 and 1.9x the score of one 5800 Ultra, which goes in the direction of the commercial name of the NV35. GeForce FX 11600 should be available to semi May in France with the prices of 899 € for version 128 Mo... is the double of one 5800!
