Nintendo fined by European Union

while Microsoft brought us... well, Windows9x (definitely not hours of fun) ;)

I don't know about that. Windows is one of the major gaming platforms.

A lot of people forget that, conveniently.

mmrmm

There's no more serious alternative desktop OS thanks to MS, so yes they are the main gaming platform provider, but it's only because they are the main OS provider, nothing else.

What's your point? I wasn't talking about the games. I was only pointing out that Windows (especially 9x but XP and 2k too) isn't exactly what you would call problem free and that has nothing to do with the software available for Windows-PCs.
I'm not using Windows because I like it - I'm using it because as a gamer I've got no choice.

LOL.. some of you.
Nintendo doesn't care?
Which company DOESN'T care about 150 Million Euros?!
Geezes some of you are making this sound like daily expenses.

Ever heard of accruals (I believe that's what they're called in english)?
Of course no company "likes" to pay fines this high. I'm just saying that Nintendo was completely aware that this was eventually going to happen (the EU has been looking into the matter since 1995) and that's why they slowly set up the necessary accruals during the last few years. That way this fine won't affect the balance sheet as adversely as it would if they hadn't prepared themeselves.
