Wasnt this pic confirmed to be fake?

Yeah it might be fake, I wouldn't be suprised, I just haven't seen it until now and I just saw it posted elsewhere. Also it fits what was recently said about the console's design (slot loaded, much longer then it is high ect). So I thought it was worth posting anyway.

Specualtion that Sony and Nintendo are working together on their nextgen console.

- Sony's slogan "Welcome Change" and Nintendo's "Revolution"
- A statement by some guy at Sony:
"An old friend returns....
And an enemy becomes a friend..."
(Playstation 1 was originally developed to be cd drive for Nintendo)
- The countdown on Sony's E3 page ends exactly the same time Nintendo press conference starts, even though the conferences are two days apart.

Hmm, to be honest those links are very weak/ambigious. The same kind of thing could probably be done for Sony and MS or Nintendo and MS or even Nintendo/MS and Sony :)

- Sony's slogan "Welcome Change", Nintendo's "Revolution" and MS's "360" :)

Furor? Nah, I think it would have been cool. I was all for MS and "Nitedo" ( :D ) ganging up, but of course it won't happen. Sony isn't "an old friend" to Nitedo, and revolution will be its own hardware design compared to PS3. So they won't be a team, that's like 99.999% certain.

This time Nintendo seems to have stolen MSs power button.

You mean the universal power symbol? ;)

Anyway I think that mockup is too plaing looking. It's not ugly but not very interesting either.

Well If we are playing that game, I'm going to predict that Revolution is some kind of VR tech for PS3... :D
I wouldn't hold my breath though.

Imagine playing RE4 at 1080p, fullscreen AA. (It) would blow away alot of the early nex gen titles we seeing. I cant wait to play the old library in HD.

Heh that's funny because you're right.

You think games without pscan support will play in HD on revolution?

I think 480i GCN games can be upconverted to 1080i or maybe even 1080p, same with 480p games like RE4.

My guess on this is that both are cross-licensing controller tech. It would benefit Nintendo for third party support and Sony for their Immersion litigation plus 'other' stuff, IMHO...

Gigaton!!!11!one!!

:devilish:

Enhanced backward compatibility?

If Nintendo would manage to let games run in a higher resolution with sharper textures, higher speed,... that would be a revolution alone, if it were to make a huge difference. :)

well unlike sony and ms , nintendo seems to be sticking with the same graphics and cpu set up (though the cpu set up may be diffrent ) So really i don't see why they couldn't force 16x aniso and 4x or 6 x fsaa on the older games . I don't know about forcing a higher res as some things like text might come out messed up.

Maybe the old friend returning is Capcom, and the enemy is Nintendo?

Nintendo rarely does anything like that, when they rarely pay that kind of attention to their current games, why would they do it to old ones?
Super Gameboy and Gameboy Color could colorize gameboy games.
GBA could up scale Gameboy games to a higher res, though not with really great results.
DS could add nothing to GBA.
Gameboy Player could stretch GBA games to full screen, and in the process apply some kind of filtering, but far below what could have been done. It could also adjust the refresh rate.
The emulated NES games on gamecube would have fairly decent filtering applied in pscan mode.
The emulated N64 games somehow managed to look worse than what I got with ultra64 back in 1998, barely an increase over the n64.

The emulated N64 Zelda games have a higher resolution and better texture filtering. They look much better than their N64 counterparts. Super Mario 64 and Mario Kart 64 look better on Gamecube also(this requires a bit of a hack).

Ah, so pirating = hacking now?

Bleh, didn't look much better to me, it looked a bit sharper, but no where near what I got on a PC years ago, and not a huge difference from the n64.(main difference was much sharper text)
