nForce anyone?

I don't know if this has been discussed before, but has anyone considered the possibility that sony might put an nForce chip in the PS3?

I seriously doubt this prospect, and I have certainly heard nothing to this possibility. Considering the royalities that Sony is paying nVidia per machine that also indicates that it will not also. If I am not mistaking RAMBUS will be providing the PS3 chipset, mainly due to the proprietary nature of the memory they use. It is a good thought, but I do not think nVidia has any experience in dealing with this architecture to create a brand new nForce chipset for the PS3. Goodness I certainly love nForce chipsets in AMD platforms though, it is a different story for Intel platforms however.

The GameMaster...

what the hell is a nForce chip? You won't get soundstorm (lost patent rights to creative labs). Memory IO is meaning less since its on the cell chip. Disk IO/bus IO wouldn't make much sense either for a "nForce" chip.

What nVIDIA could provide together with the GPU in this Media processor: TCP/IP off-load engine, HDD+Blu-Ray ROM I/O, USB 2.0 I/O, WiFi 802.11 b/g I/O, etc...
