Nextgen movie

Haha thanks. I was watching the draft to see this movie. I got up to check my email and missed it when I saw then end of the commerical.

wow that was pretty cool looking. Thanks!

I don't know what the deal is with all those fanboys on the net complaining it sucked or looked like crap was all about, but this didn't look nearly as bad as some people make it out to be.

That's why they are fanboys. It's their job to complain about anything and everything from the competition.

"Product not yet rated"

hahahahaha

What product! :LOL: It is only an artists impression... gotta love that! :LOL:

Actually this video is from the latest build of the Xbox 2 version of the game. If it was just an artists impression of "what next gen could be like" they would not have a rating on it. Also if you watch when they are selecting the plays there is an green A button beside each menu as they scroll down.

I highly doubt EA would go and spend time making a "CG" movie for the next gen Madden game just for a 60 second tv AD when they could just use the actual game that they have been working on for quite some time to do the demo.

What you see is the current build of Madden 2006 for Xbox 2, EA just had to say all of that other stuff due to MS not wanting any developer to really show next gen media till they offically announce Xbox 2.

I don't know dude, if you watch the video, the picture of the guy getting tackled was show late last year. So that picture was from this footage. There's also someone who claims they are working on Madden ng that say the same thing over at gaming age. he says it's gonna look much better than that when they are done.

He also said the demo footage they showed is old and he wished they didn't show it.

Ahem...

First off, what you're about to see, and what you've been seeing in screenshots are not actual gameplay. It turns out that the commercial and all visuals released are actually an artist's interpretation of what Madden could look like on the Next-Gen systems.

Red flag.

But before you dismiss the commercial, the people at Tiburon say that some of the Madden team didn't want these visuals seen, not because they are setting the bar too high, but too low. Seriously, they say that these are the visuals they were shooting for originally, but that the team now feels that they will be easily surpassed. And if that's the case, NFL fans are in for an amazing display of visual impact.

As McNabb goes over to talk to the coach, you not only hear the coach's voice, you get a first look at what could be an all-new play calling system. There are now eight plays along the left side of the screen that you can scroll through as you get advice from the coach. And the Tiburon team confirmed that while this might not be the final play calling system, that fans are in for a change. "There will be more than three plays to choose from at a time."

So, uhmmm.... yeah.

The animation sucks :(
all else is pretty good and nice stuff.

Yeah, a lot of the animation was taken right out of current Madden games.

It really is bothersome that the models were all basically the same. You look at Madden 2005 and the models seem to have more variance--WR are skinnier, linemen have huge fat guts, etc...

I would think that EA could have spent the last years years writing an upgraded rendering engine to slap on the current features. One of the best things about the Sega/NFL2k series competition (and Gameday in the past) is that it kept the standard high and EA could not afford to cut features and reintroduce them in the future. A next gen football game with less features than a current gen offering would suck. Who cares about the glitter and bling when the older stuff plays betters :?

Does it matter what it is ? I turn on the tv and see fmv adds for all the games , final fantasys , racing games , and even fighting games and no one complains . That is the way the industry is now . Its been that way for a long time

Well yeah it matters. When they slap the title, "Next Gen Madden" and "Product not yet rated" on a commercial they are definately giving the impression that this IS the product--especially when they show the play selection menu.

I could care less about other commercials (two wrongs and all the other stuff). Fact is the average consumer watching the commercial definately gets the feeling from what the add says that this is what they will be getting (for better or worse) somewhere in the game--even if it is replies. From what EA stated this is not even game footage but offline rendered concept art.

Concept Art != Game

It also matters because this is the B3D forums and we are talking about next gen games and this is one of the first video feeds of claimed next gen gaming. But that is the catch... it is not next gen footage at all.

As for the complaining comment... I think the correct words are "discussing", "complimenting", and "criticizing".

When they put in game fmv on a comercial and give a rating and say its the new final fantasy though its no big deal ?

Ea has said to expect even better than this so by your reasoning of the current gen game advertising its okay or even better that they made this comercial as some where in the game for better or worse they will get this quality or better

Concept Art != Game
Fmv != Game

Whats your point ? If it was fine this gen then its fine for next gen

And if it turns out to be next gen game quality then what ?

This is B3D the discusion on this should have stoped a long time ago , Ea said it was fmv of what the game could look like , why keep going ? Why care , we know this is how comercials have been and they will continue to be that way , why debate it or complain . I haven't seen any of that for the past few years even all the way into the start of the psone era

Why discuss or criticize or even praise fmv ? Do we sit around here and say oh my god that ended part of kingdom hearts was phat or man the animation in that fmv ending of jak and dax was horrible did u see how stiff the movements are

Its fmv for an add just like all the other adds that come out every year with the one or two expections . Thats it .

EP, well... *some* of the footage in the commercial *might* have been from Madden 2006 on Xbox2 / 360, but certainly not the high-quality stuff seen in the 'Sack Cam' portion of the commercial-- which is the very same thing as the CG render released some time ago.

looks like it could be from the game
day5screener.jpg

from the 'Sack Cam' sequence. a confirmed CG render
madden.jpg

both of these were in the commercial as I said, but look at the vast difference in quality and complexity.

I think this whole thing sucks. "Hey, introducing the next-gen Madden!" And nobody's sure what they're seeing. Except it's probably all FMV.

Makes me even more pissed that there'll be no alternative to EA's game this year. Now excuse me while I go hug my NFL2K5.

Animation's bad.

Plus, if I were a football fan, I would be severely disappointed as the whole look doesn't resemble TV-presentation football. The lighting and ambiance are WAY off. I prefer the much more realistic look of the current generation games -- left in attract mode w/ the right camera angle, even the PS2 version can fool the untrained eye into thinking that it is witnessing a real life NFL game.

I'm disappointed.
