I don't know what the deal is with all those fanboys on the net complaining it sucked or looked like crap was all about, but this didn't look nearly as bad as some people make it out to be.
What product! It is only an artists impression... gotta love that!

Actually this video is from the latest build of the Xbox 2 version of the game. If it was just an artists impression of "what next gen could be like" they would not have a rating on it. Also if you watch when they are selecting the plays there is an green A button beside each menu as they scroll down.
I highly doubt EA would go and spend time making a "CG" movie for the next gen Madden game just for a 60 second tv AD when they could just use the actual game that they have been working on for quite some time to do the demo.
What you see is the current build of Madden 2006 for Xbox 2, EA just had to say all of that other stuff due to MS not wanting any developer to really show next gen media till they offically announce Xbox 2.
First off, what you're about to see, and what you've been seeing in screenshots are not actual gameplay. It turns out that the commercial and all visuals released are actually an artist's interpretation of what Madden could look like on the Next-Gen systems.
Red flag.
But before you dismiss the commercial, the people at Tiburon say that some of the Madden team didn't want these visuals seen, not because they are setting the bar too high, but too low. Seriously, they say that these are the visuals they were shooting for originally, but that the team now feels that they will be easily surpassed. And if that's the case, NFL fans are in for an amazing display of visual impact.
As McNabb goes over to talk to the coach, you not only hear the coach's voice, you get a first look at what could be an all-new play calling system. There are now eight plays along the left side of the screen that you can scroll through as you get advice from the coach. And the Tiburon team confirmed that while this might not be the final play calling system, that fans are in for a change. "There will be more than three plays to choose from at a time."

Well yeah it matters. When they slap the title, "Next Gen Madden" and "Product not yet rated" on a commercial they are definately giving the impression that this IS the product--especially when they show the play selection menu.
Ea has said to expect even better than this so by your reasoning of the current gen game advertising its okay or even better that they made this comercial as some where in the game for better or worse they will get this quality or betterI could care less about other commercials (two wrongs and all the other stuff). Fact is the average consumer watching the commercial definately gets the feeling from what the add says that this is what they will be getting (for better or worse) somewhere in the game--even if it is replies. From what EA stated this is not even game footage but offline rendered concept art.
Fmv != GameConcept Art != Game
And if it turns out to be next gen game quality then what ?It also matters because this is the B3D forums and we are talking about next gen games and this is one of the first video feeds of claimed next gen gaming. But that is the catch... it is not next gen footage at all.
Why discuss or criticize or even praise fmv ? Do we sit around here and say oh my god that ended part of kingdom hearts was phat or man the animation in that fmv ending of jak and dax was horrible did u see how stiff the movements areAs for the complaining comment... I think the correct words are "discussing", "complimenting", and "criticizing".
