PCI-E will be in by default b/c they are using the r420. . .isn't it a PCI-E chip? no? yes?

First, the r420 is AGP, the r423 (IIRC) is the PCI-E varient of it, however it is most definitely NOT what is going in the xBox2.

right.

Xbox 2 is definitally not getting the R420, it's getting some custom R6xx graphics processor. either a little behind R600 or a little ahead of it. much like the NV2A is derived from the NV20 ~ NV25.

R420 is probably to Xbox 2 graphics what
GeForce 2 is to Xbox graphics.

Actually you run gigabit Ethernet using regular CAT5e (which is used typically for 100 mbits).

The only big expense for getting gigabit Ethernet are the switches, and you can get 8 port gigE switches for $150 now.

They certainly don't need to be, you aren't using that much network traffic to max a regular network, let alone one using gigabit. It's basically overkill.

yup . Its nice actually

my father got the cabling free from work

don't forget these systems may come out in 2005/2006 but people will be using them till 2010 at least adn i expect gigabit lan to be commen in house holds or at least as commen as hdtv.

If we're talking about network traffic for multiplayer like we do now then its an over kill, but if future games would do peer-to-peer game [server] hosting, then it's a must.

A gigabit network would help out a lot at our computer shop. When we're ghosting an image down from the server to 10+ machines you can't do anything else on the network without it being insanely slow. Whether or not it'll be in the Xbox 2 no one really knows besides Microsoft. I'm guessing it's more likely than not.

As for just USB 1.1 in Xbox 2, you've got to be kidding me. I can't think of a single new motherboard or chipset being released that supports only USB 1.1. USB 2.0 is the new standard and it WILL be in the next Xbox. USB 2.0 is a hell of a lot faster than USB 1.1. Even a USB 2.0 pen drive benefits greatly from the increased speed. Falling back on legacy speed is incredibly slow.
