I"m July the 13th too... not sure if it was a Friday though :devilish:

Okay worm... start spilling your guts on the release! o_O
Hehe, we are getting a bit OT here, but I was actually born on Friday the 13th. ;)

Can't comment anything else on the Next 3DMark than what I wrote in the newsletter. Not even the release date, month, year or millenium. ;)

Heh, it looks like PS3.0 will be the PS1.4 of the upcoming debates. If anybody remembers all the controversy over PS1.4 in 3DMark '01, imagine how this round will be. Or you can just re-read those older threads, swap PS1.4 with PS3.0 and swap ATI with nVidia - and viola! You'll have read into the future!

I think the big difference here is that with first release of Direct X 9, PS 3.0 information was release in Direct X SDK documentation. If I remember DX8 correctly, PS 1.4 came later.

Do you believe that PS3.0 is an NVidia only standard.. but instead its a Direct X 9 standard..

Only thing that really make this different is the 6800 series are the first cards to support the PS3.0 specifications and Microsoft needs to make a change to Direct X 9 to update it since the actual hardware has been release.

It's coming out in July, just in time for the retail availability for the nV40 and M$'s dx9.0c release. :)

This NV40 in july stuff is quite a joke... I guess that is why you put ":)" on your statement.

My quess the retail 6800's will be release the day after ATI's make their announcement. But it does not mean that PS 3.0 support and DX9.0c will be there.. because that depends on Microsoft..

Your guess is totally wrong--NVIDIA and AIB manufacturers have said late May to early June.

No, my prediction of no retail availability until July is quite serious...I put the smiley on it because it's going to hurt nVidia and that makes me happy since I hate their company so much and the only ones they'll have to blame for it is themselves for pushing over optimistic goals AGAIN rather than shooting the truth.

Again, JULY!!! :devilish:

Strangely, I've also been offered a retail 6800U in May by at least one company to review though I'm unsure if I'll accept it or not.

Been offered the vanilla 6800 ... when I say "I" I mean my company has been offered it for retail.

It may get delayed... if we get a few in, I'm taking one home for 'testing purposes,' naturally.

Guys, discuss the technical/on-topic stuff about this topic in the news thread on this (read our front page). I posted the news later than the originator of this thread but this thread appears to have too OT for my taste. Apologies for the hijacking.
