New test drive shots (not 56k friendly)

I'm not saying this is the case at all, but I would find it hilarious if these X360 games turn out to not impress graphically but innovate in their genres. All of a sudden, the years of disgusted rhetoric about trading graphics for creativity would come back and bite people in the butt.

But like I said, I don't believe that to be the case. I will say that the lineup of X360 games looks significantly better than the lineup of Xbox games (comparing by the same point in their lifecycles).

look at the video i posted , it looks to be the same quality just during the day . There is nothing about the shot that leads me to belive it can't be done , really only the characters were high detailed and there are only two of them on the screen and not to much else going on around the scene

after watching the video, ya it looks exactly like an in game scene, awesome!

wow, now I just hope the gameplay lives up to the graphics cause this is unreal(no pun intended :D ).

I don't really know what people are expecting here for a Test Drive game. It looks pretty awesome for a TD game. ;)

Of course PGR3 and Forza2 is gonna look better, no duh Sherlock. How many racing games on PS2 has GT4 level graphics other than previous GT games?

Jesus Christ, people are just expecting too much from 1st generation games.

But isn't it only fair enough to be allowed to critisize the look of the game if some people are claiming it looks "amazing" which it clearly (at this stage, at least) doesn't.
It's got nothing to do with expectations, or whether Test Drive games have a bad reputation on graphics.
All games that are PR'd before new console launch are important in the first impression tghe console gets, if a lot of the games look "meh" in the PR shots, it must tell something of (marketing of) the platform, and that maybe it's rushed to the launch and that the devs and marketing people have had not enough time to cook up more impressive pics ;)

The fact is those TD shots look pretty awful for next gen title, even for this gen they would only be mediocrly impressive. What's being discussed here is those shots, and that game. It really isn't as much about the capabilities of the launch platform (although obviously it's being dragged that way by rabid funbuoys) ;)

These are static screenshots though. Games will always look different from that unless you pause every second.

There are still months left before release, before the actual commercials show up on TV.

At this point, I'd congratulate them on what they've got so far while also critiquing some things that are within reason. ;) Repeated textures for a road are hardly a priority to "fix" IMO.

 They look quite like a next generation game under the TD license to me. ;)

Oh yes, let's all just be nice and just give a hug, big pat on the back and three hurrahz to the people who managed to put out the next gen pr shots for the beauty of a game that is Test Drive: Somethingsoundingnextgenny! I loveyou gimme more crappy nextgen gameshots so I will be pleasantly surprised when the actual games look 10x better.

NO!!! I WANT TO BE H Y P E D !!!!!

There's something that i find funny in this whole discussion, people mentioning Fight Night for the PS3. Uh....that game will have an Xbox 360 version too i'm sure, and its using their next gen Renderware, wich means that both versions will look almost the same.

And people saying that TD looks Xbox 1.5, what did GT at the PC looked? Ps2.1?

Yep and that's why I said we shouldn't compare PGR3 to TDU. That's like comparing PGR and PGR2 to TD on Xbox.

That's pretty much what I'd expect a TD game on Xbox 360 would look like.

Really, the only truly visible difference between those xbox PGR2 and xbox360 TD shots is that TD car is much more reflective, even very unrealistically so, like a mirror.
TD looks blurry, messy and somehow oddly inconsistent compared to the much cleaner PGR2 PR shots.
Thus, based on these TD xbox360 shots, it is justified to say xbox360 looks more like xbox 1.5.
Whether it's very sane assumption is another matter, but as we're now speaking of TD shots for xbox360........

If you're going to judge Xbox 360 based on one mediocre first-gen title, you might as well judge the PS2 by Evergrace

Or judge Xbox by Azurik

Maybe it should be TD1.5, not Xbox 1.5. Gears of War has shown some of what the box is capable of. You can't really blame the box for the dev not making the game look good.

Haha I just wanted an excuse to look at that pink haired girl. mmmm.

Really though, my point is that there are always some first-generation games that don't look much more impressive than the best games on the previous gen systems.

What's PS2 all of a sudden got to do with TD shots for xbox360 :?

And what has judging TD only, not taking into account any other games, got to do with judging X360?

As has been stated above Gears of War for one shows what X360 is potentially capable of so trying to bring this down to a case of TD looking average, therefore X360 is really X1.5 is just unfair.

I think this TD game looks freaking great! Much better than most of the other X360 games I've seen. Looks like a next-gen racer to me.

Can't we have a normal discussion for once without bashing? Is it too much to ask? Really...

If i see any more overused bloom in next gen shots, i'll go blind.

to be fair we don't know if its bloom or hdr . It could very well be hdr as the surroundings can be affected even when not looking at main light source.

As for what everyone here forgets is that stills don't tell the whole story. Watch the test drive e3 video in hd and you will see how great the game looks in motion compared to the xbox racers .
