Mori,

here's something filmish you might also be interested in.

There's a small Q and A with Mel Brooks in Playbill magazine, which is all about theatre shows, in which he says there are more movies on the way that he's doing..have a great day.

Playbill : What's the secret to The Producers longevity?

MB: I think it's just a matter of right time, right place. There was a thing called video and then there was a thing called DVDs, then it became more successful, and so the time was right for it, ripe for it actually, to go to Broadway. Now, it's the right time for it to be made back into a movie.

Playbill : With Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane?

MB: Most definitely. There might be a few changes, for instance an Australian chap named Bert Newton plays Franz Leibkind in the show down under and he gives the performance of that role I've ever seen frankly. I'd love Newton to be involved. I'd also like Nicole Kidman to be involved, and apparently she's keen.

Playbill : Will you have a role in it?

MB : It's doubtful, but I'm writing myself back into the Spaceballs sequel that I'm now writing, so you haven't seen the last of my face. Why another Spaceballs? It wouldn't feel right have anyone else play Yoghurt and the first one was the best experience I've had making a movie since Blazing Saddles.

Playbill : When can we expect that?

MB : Best case scenario : a week before the new Star Wars opens. Worst Case Scenario : a year after the new star wars opens.

can't wait ! 8)

The first one was amazingly funny, the second one... I can't even remember it... But i remember it was BAD.

Unless you can somehow remember the future I don't see how you could seen it. Unless you are using that special thing from spaceballs, where they watch the movie before it's even made.

 Then maybe i'm thinking about the wrong movie.
I'm sure in Italy there was a "space balls 2" (translated in Italian of course), that had NOTHING to do with the first one, which would explain many things (the film is not actually SpaceBalls's sequel, just a silly movie that has been connected to the first SpaceBalls by Italian dubbing movie companies things or whatever they're called...)
It's probably just another case of bad translation of american movies by the Italian dumbos...

(Anyone Italian here who can confirm that i'm not mad? There was a "Balle Spaziali" which was the original "SpaceBalls", and there was also a "Balle Spaziali 2" which was horrible and had nothing to do with the first one...)

"Space Balls 2" ??? Sounds like it's in the same league as "Lord of The Rims", "Rump Friction", "Forrest Rump", "Reservoir Cocks", "Singing in The Golden Rain", "Shaving Ryan's Privates", "Rear Factor", "Monsters inc.", "The Fag Tricks: Reloaded"...... etc etc.....

Trust me, you REALLY, REEEEEEALLLY don't want to know some movies made in the 70s in Italy. Not porn, just tacky/comic-but-not-funny/erotic-but-not-horny movies....... There are a lot of Italian guys on here, i'm sure they'll remember...
Stuff like "the maths teacher" (Pierino e la professoressa di matematica...... ehmmmm....)

Really, Italy has a history for tacky "comedy" movies.

I dunno bout a second space balls, I thought the first one was dumb, specifically made for people with low IQ and nothing short of sheer lameness personified.

Blazing Saddles on the other hand is a masterpiece, particulary the ending where the badguys crashes that ghey cabaret practice. Amazing.

Just shows they don't make 'em like they used to! :D

Col. Sandurz: Prepare ship for light speed!
Dark Helmet: No, no, no, light speed is too slow!
Col. Sandurz: Light speed, too slow?!
Dark Helmet: Yes, we're gonna have to go right to . . . ludicrous speed!
Col. Sandurz: Ludicrous speed?! Sir, we've never gone that fast before. I don't know if the ship can take it.
Dark Helmet: What's the matter Colonel Sandurz? Chicken?

Yep. Great film.

pah, Guden, I have an IQ in the low 150's and I think Spaceballs is the greatest movie ever made. now i really doubt you consider 150 "low"

Well, it IS in the "low" 150's................................... ;)

I loved Spaceballs the first time I saw it, but then I rewatched it somewhat recently and came to the conclusion that it's probably one of the worst movies ever made. Blä.

Hmmm. Mel Brooks. Hmmm.

When I first watched Blazing Saddles (when I was a teenager) I thought it was hilarious. Now it just seems... stupid, as do all of Brooks' other movies that I've seen. I dunno, I think maybe they were films of their time, he was a director of that time, and that that time has gone. Or maybe I'm just turning into a miserable git in my old age.

Just IMO.

I like Mel Brooks, anyone watched Curb your enthusiasm? Anyways the Robin Hood and Star Wars spoofs were hilarious.
