NEW SIS chip!

Hmmmmm - vomit inducing graphics...... tasty

That English isn't too good (heck neither's mine on a bad day). You would have thought with an announcement like this the PR department would be upto scratch

From http://www.xabre.com/products/xabre400.html#

3rd Generation T&L Engine

Supports up to 16 vertex cache and makes you feel like riding on the roller-coaster when highly texture packed application is used.

Uhhh....is this a good thing or a bad thing?
depends on Roller Coaster... I have designed quite few in Chris Sawyer's Roller Coaster Tycoon.

for an example, if Roller Coaster is:"Nappe's Stellar 2000" it will be plesant and fun ride. (at least 'bit people' goes aproximately 6 times on it and pays over 3 bucks for a ride.)

But If Roller Coaster is called: "Nappe's Super G", I can't recommend it. That Coaster has Maximum positive vertical G's over 10.5 and 0.001 seconds later it has Maximum negative vertical G's of 4.5, so overall change is over 15 G's.... :) and if someone calls that good thing, he / she is a one tough rider.. ;)

The CubicLook? utility support wired and wireless stereo glass, AGP driver detection and over-clock function

A utility for cubic (exponential?) overclocking with wireless stereo glasses on? Funky!

Agree about the coffee ;-)

Although OT: I guess at this point Daemon's second part of his question is far more important right now than anything else.

Damn, where does this leave the poor kyro 3 then

I don't really see the link between this news on SIS and Kyro III.

It has everything to do with the KYRO III.

All the cards on the market..

Nvidia GF4 4600, 4400, 4200 Ti. (4200 Ti being the market level card) - I'll leave the MX series cause they suck!
Nvidia GF4 Ultra / GF5 (Due in a few months time)
ATi 8500, 8500 LE. (LE being the market level card)
ATI Rv250 / R300 (Due in a few months time)
Sis with their Xabre Series doing the same job as the other two in covering all parts of the market (OEM/Average Joe/Gamer)
Matrox Soon to be released part (if you believe the rumors) doing the same job as the other two in covering all parts of the market (OEM/Average Joe/Gamer)

Now think, for one second and try to remove this mist of kyro fanboi-ism. How many cards will be out on the market, when and if the KYRO III is released??

Alot of people are sick of waiting and money is burning holes in their pockets. With Nvidia's 4200 Ti, you will see alot of people jump ship and go for this cards, because of its value and price!

Not to mention, if at the end of the year Kyro III is release, it will have to do a very good job in diverting attention from the other cards. If it is underclocked in the specs department, then it might be the usual case of too little too late! :devilish:

AFAICS the Xabre chips are in the Geforce 4MX performance bracket (that's what the benches show) not the Geforce 3/4 performance bracket.

My post is nothing to do with fanboyism. People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones mate, and considering your first post in this thread you must be living in a green house ;)

I said AFAICS the new SIS chips have nothing to do with Kyro III, I said nothing about Geforce 4 TI 4200.

If your first post simply said that there are a few new graphics chips coming onto the market and that may make if hard for Kyro III when it comes out, then I wouldn't have commented as that's a good point. But at this point I don't see SIS's new chips by themselves effecting Kyro III at all, and that's why I commented that I didn't see the relivence in your post. Especially considering the early benchmarks from SIS's new chips which seems to point to bad drivers (which is something SIS have suffered very badely from in the past).
