Robert, how are you connecting the PS3 to your audio setup? I'd be interested to know how it handles BR audio (True HD and DD+) and SACD when connected to an HDMI 1.1 receiver/processor. Does it support DVD-A?

Connected via HDMI to a Panny XR-57 receiver, I don't see any of the audio options grayed out for me in the PS3 audio settings. I'll have to borrow a SACD and see how it handles it. Likely internal decoding and output via PCM? there is a bit stream option that I'll try also. Anything in particular you want me to check on?

Mainly want to see if it handles the TrueHD like the A1 does where it converts it to 96/24 PCM for HDMI 1.1.
I think theres supposed to be a significant update to the SACD functionality down the road but i would like to also see what your receiver recognizes 5.1 SACD as, when using HDMI. Thanks!

So I borrowed Aerosmith "Toys in the attic" SACD from a friend. It played but with issues. First of all I could not get it to hit my rears at all. Second, minimal bass. I checked everything in settings and it was all set to "auto." I maxed out the bass from the receiver and it scaled accordingly but pitifully low.
I *think* the issue is the "auto" calibration, which gives me a few audio output options, isn't smart enough to pick the proper option for my setup. It might even be defaulting to the lowest option. Basically, it sounded like shit.
So I thought to put a regular CD in and try that on. This time it was Snoop Dogg's Doggystyle since it has a lot of bass. Same issues.
Tried to goto the manual setting on the "audio output" option and no dice. There are some options it will not let me de-select. There is also another option in setting called "CD playback" or something. Here you can select different codecs and bitrates for extraction. So I ripped "murder was the case" using MP3 at 192 onto the drive to see if that would make a difference. Absolutely not. Still playing like before.
I can confirm here too - just tried SCEA PS store (and I'm in Korea) and download speeds were absolutely maximum the connection here can take (less then a 1minute for system update, ~8minutes or so for Resistance demo).
I was actually surprised since I read people's complaints about slow networking before... Gonna try Jpn store later.
