Based on a Windows CE operating system, the FreeOn-3 supports MPEg4, comes with an SD/MMC card slot, has 32MB ROM and 64MB SDRAM built-in, covers your basic BlueTooth1.1 needs, as well as there's an USB port to be found.

The basic processor is an ARM9-based 200MHz thing, 3D acceleration is supported, there's a 16-bit AC97 soundchip in there and the 2.8-inch screen can display 260k worth of colors, distributed among 320x240 pixels. Battery would be an 1800mAh li-polymer type of source. And yes, the FreeOn-3 also acts as an MP3 player.

Why do so many companies think they can make it in the portable space without any differentiation or advantages?

Jvd will buy one. He even bought a Virtual Boy. Together with all of Britney's discography, special platinum edition, signed poster included. :p

^^ looks cooler than any GameBoy IMO.

I think so too. I especially like the thumb stick. I don't like the rounded corners though.

Is it me of does the guy have ENORMOUS hands? Or is this thing much smaller than i imagined...

It's about the size of a GBA SP or slighty larger. That screen is only 2.8".

Sweet Jebus! Thats what gives it the mega performance upgrade, guys. This is no simple GBA on steroids, its doesn't need an graphics accelerator. Its got 32MB of ROM built it! Sign me up!

I think the deception in size comes from the fact that the GBA, DS and PSP are relatively large compared to the GBA SP.

That thing seems an evolution of the GBA SP (no bad thing) with a thumbstick (analogue/digital?) and 4-button face (any shoulder buttons?). Personally one of the reasons I still like my GBA SP over the PSP or DS is because of it's pocketable size.

Is that size deception or are those buttons actually smaller than GBA or DS ones ? Beside that, looks like a good handheld.
