MaxPC on R420

Pretty disappointing anyway. The closest thing to *maybe* newsworthy is "We've also received reliable reports that R420 will not support Pixel Shader 3.0 and Vertex Shader 3.0, and that it will be limited to 24-bit floating-point color throughout its pipeline. . ."

And they complain that ATI is taking "a top-secret approach".

I have the Maximum PC (not MaxPC) but I don't really care what they say on VGAs or 3D... ;)

PS: Or MaxPC != Maximum PC?

The Dig raises his hand and waives it urgently!

Question? Isn't 24-bit fp throughout it's pipelines just exactly what DX9 spec calls for? Or am I missing something? :|

Well, since the rest of the chip is fully 32bit... ;)

Sure. But about 500 rumors ago it was looking FP32 was possible. Still haven't heard it definitively ruled out. I wouldn't call this definitive either, but the fat lady is running up and down the scales.

Yes. Saving keystrokes.
