MAG

Actually had some good games with Valor tonight. Beating SVER at Sabotage with 10 seconds to go. We held B for almost the entire game. I spend most of my time standing inside of it, simply healing other squadmembers. Got a ton of points out of it, and 2nd place MVP. Advanced healing FTW.

Made it to level 27 so far. Getting enough skillpoints for a decent gun. Although I still prefer Raven's AR's. I will be stealing them every chance I get.

Yeah, I suspected you got unlucky the other day. Bad apples !

The Valor attackers I fought against usually made my blood pressure rise. They are certainly no pushovers.

Still, that was 5 or 6 games one after another of some the worst games I've played. Even yesterday I saw some strange behaviour. 3 guys from the same clan hunting some guy down for whatever reason. He then changed spawnpoints to the other side of the map, so they actually decided to walk across the map to get to him. Abandoning the objective completely.

But it's good to see Valor also has some decent players and clans. I'm still going to leave them when I reach level 60. After that I'll probably try SVER. But I'm mostly going to end up back at Raven again. I like their guns the best.

All this PMC switching does give you more insight into the maps. Where it's weak points are, best strategies to use. For Raven Sabotage I remember how important it was to keep the enemies away from the front stairs on A and B. Now every time I have to attack it I throw gas grenades to left and right side of the objective, creating nice path in between straight to the stairs. Any enemies there are trapped, and reinforcements won't come in and have their lines of sight blocked.

What are the perceptible differences? According to the stats they look so small as to be negligable, save for ovbious things like ammo capacity.

For the AR's Raven's are the most accurate. They lose in stopping power, but if your good at headshots there is no better AR then the ATAC 2000. The F90 smg has rate of fire in it's favour and a fairly large clip. But ultimately it comes down to which suit your playing style the best.

Anyone want to guess which PMC just got back to their stupid ways? I guess losing out on double XP doesn't matter at the start of the game. O well, when in Rome.

Can I ask how much though? How much difference is there in accuracy and stopping power? Is it the difference between one in two shots hitting but needing 10 torso hits to kill a trooper versus one in three shots hitting but needing 5 torso to down a man, or more like a 5% increase in hits needing one extra bullet to drop a man?

The figures in the MAG wiki suggest the differences are of the 5% variety, meaning no noticeable difference for a ham-fisted 'spray-and-pray' soldier like myself! (Spray and pray is utterly inaccurate, as I tend to wander around the whole world looking down ironsights and carefully shooting a perfect outline around an opponent.)

I haven't been able find a good comparison of well each of guns performs in terms of bullet spread or number of shots needed. But I do know a headshot does 3 times the damage compared a hit anywhere else. So a small advantage in accuracy can lead to a big difference.

Firing in short bursts and going prone also improves the accuracy a lot.

I was looking forward to change PMC, but what happens when I reach lvl 60, you guessed it, I did not pay attention and managed to select Raven again :) zzzzzzzzz

Welcome back !

I'm level 59 now. I'll probably stick around for some time to play with the respec.

Which front stairs ? In Objective B, there are other smaller structures, and enemies usually climb up the front stairs of the smaller building. Are you referring to that one or the main building ?

I saw you at level 2 thinking you'd vetted over. But then I saw that Raven symbol next to your name, wtf. That's some bad luck.

The main building. You can get the top floor of the main building if you up those stairs. It gives you a nice height advantage over the defenders.

Aye ! In Raven Objective A, I love to go to Objective C to snipe at enemies on the top deck.

It's harder to do so in Objective B, but you can find a spot (by the truck besides "Road C") to snipe them while they ascend the stairs. You'll be shooting at their back.

Awesome! Time for some calculating... Importantly though, from initial glance, the "greater stopping power" of a higher tier gun can mean 20% extra damage, so we are talking significant values. However the difference between PMC weapons is all of 2HP per round. In terms of number of bullets needed to drop an enemy, it's pretty much a rub. This means aiming and firerate are more important.

The clip size also matters if your per-bullet damage is low. The KP-7 is particularly bad in this aspect. I need to use the sniper rifle to hurt someone first, and then finish him off with KP-7. Otherwise, the clip will run out before I could kill him.

The KP-7 actually has the biggest clip out of the 3 machine pistols between the PMCs. Still it's a big improvement over the handgun. The AR's tend to run out of ammo quickly, forcing me to use it. Even at close range it's just not going to hit anything. I would rather choose not to carry it if I could.

It's shame that the double XP weekend is over. I put it to good use though, went from level 13 to level 46. Still that's only about half the XP I need to get to level 60. The weekend also did a good job of increasing the player numbers again, finding games became much faster.

Valor seems to be in a worse shape than ever with no contracts held. Interesting what people vetting over can do for the balance between the PMCs. And would it suggest that the maps aren't as unbalanced as people like to believe. Only the Acquisition contracts seem to stay at the same PMCs.

I joined a bigger in clan Valor, which makes the experience a lot more enjoyable, knowing your playing with people you can rely upon. Now if only the game would keep putting us up against equally good clans. Pushing the enemies back into their spawnpoints isn't that much fun either.

Got to try Valors machine pistol. Another gun I like less compared to it's Raven counterpart. It's like it's bullets disappear into thin air after 10 meters.
