Ostepop, the basic game mechanic is very solid. I rate it higher than most other FPSes I tried (including KZ2, U2, R2, Socom, UT3). What's missing now is teamwork and strategies.
If you want quick fun, long kill streak and personal ratios, this game is probably not for you. But if you want to be part of a war action, then hop in and help Valor or Raven out. It will take patience to perfect your own moves, and also beat others into shape.
Most of the time, defense will win. People complain about SVER because attacking their bases are generally more difficult, especially the Domination map. In the beta, it's not just losing on the SVER map, my self-esteem got shredded into bits as well. You may not like the experience.
OTOH, when it's time for them to attack our bases, we get to beat them into submission too (but not as humiliating). Unlike SVER, you have to work/play hard for the victory. After my second day, I have only lost 1-2 defenses per night out of 10 or so defenses. I know I play more intensely and intently than in other FPSes though (Trying to create winning opportunities for comrades here).
If you managed to win in an attack, give yourself a good pat in the back.
EDIT: If you're a lone wolf like me (usually), there is a way to play it during defenses. Stay away from the objectives and snipe at enemies' flank or behind from far. When you do this, the enemies will send one or two soldiers to look for you. In which case, it becomes a cat and mouse game (e.g., Kill enough soldiers, move to new location where you can see/snipe your old location, wait for people to appear in the vaccinity, so on and so forth). This is usually effective when you have a clear view of the staircase leading to the objective room. At one point, I had 3 soldiers after my *ss in the bushes. Only lasted for a few seconds before they found me.
