Last of Us spoilers

I was really shocked at the scene with Sam and his older brother...the story telling was so merciless. The best thing...his reaction totally fitted, as the older brother was so protective, he even let Joel and Ellie back!

Bill was a crazy good character as well...Tommy was a bit pale as a character.

With respect to the other thread about women: as I said there, ND women are super tough. They look normal not like pornstars and in TLoU we have Tess, who is kind of fully respected tough smuggler lady, women of Tommy, leader of this group and Marlene, leader of the fireflies...

What's going on here, guys? I am reading this thread and I don't understand a thing. I don't have the game to be honest, but it is one of those games I'd love to play.

I hope no one has been posting spoilers in the forum. It is a common infestation in many other forums but Beyond3D was always beyond that for me, and never failed us afaik.

Stop reading!!! This is the spoiler thread and not the standard thread!!!

Played the game in one sitting, 17 hours and 17 minutes.. :p
It were a great game.

My favourite part were playing with Ellie (literally - not the creepy way), she were awesome.
At the end, I double-secured myself in making sure there were no way back - so I shot all the doctors before going to pick up Ellie - even the nurse trying to hide under the desk.
So, now I'm wondering if any of you guys didn't kill them - and did they try to stop you from running off with Ellie (again - literally, not the creepy way)?

I read a lot, a lot... I thought you were being ironic -because some smart alec had started posting spoilers disguised as regular posts (typical in other gaming forums) and the thread's title was some kind of warning- but now I realise that it is not the case.

Though I must say I am kinda amazed that you people have such a clean mind. It tells a lot about the fact that there weren't malicious intentions, which was to expect considering the author of the thread is patsu.

I only killed the first doctor, as he starts shooting at you. But, I could not kill the others...although I am sure that 'Joel' would kill all of them in a second...

The winter chapter suggests to me that someone at Naughty Dog must have been a huge fan of the movie Hanna. Amazing movie to draw your inspiration from, so I appreciate it very much.

I *imagine* the real ending is:

After years or decades...

1) Joel tells Ellie the truth if he dies before her, so she could decide what she wants to do (Tommy and probably his wife know Ellie's story too).

2) If Ellie dies earlier, Joel gets the doctor in the village to preserve her brain and create the vaccine.

That way she gets to enjoy her life for a while.

Joel's decision implies that the surviving humans are not worth saving. :devilish:

They will probably fight/kill for the vaccine if the doctors could not culture it fast enough.

That's basically what I figured, especially after all we've seen throughout the story. Humanity's already degenerated so far, and even close personal relationships have turned to shit (e.g. Marlene, Henry/Sam).

Oh well. Maybe he'll turn into a shroom head and she still remains morally intact (of sorts). :p

You cannot take such a burden on a kid. You say...you have to die, or mankind will...that is nit fair imo.

Hasn't the story been showing her how awful humanity has become (How rough the world is)? She's no typical kid from the pre-outbreak society. The scene with her commenting about how girls used to act further grounds her in the post-apocalyptic world. I don't think we can treat her like a typical child because her experiences and life so far have put her so far away from what we would otherwise expect of someone her age.

Yes, you are right...she is not a 'normal' child. A question raised also: is it even worth saving humans? Maybe that is why there is this community around Tommy and his wife...they seemed the only 'normal' people out there.

I was sort of wondering about that as well - that she knew something bad happened, and she understood that Joel couldn't tell her, and she just needed to drop it. She did wake up in a hospital gown, and she could probably poke some holes in his fabricated story. :p i.e. Marlene probably would have told her about other folks who were immune, why go through all that trouble just for her etc.

Or maybe it is just Joel. He already quit humanity. Don't forget, that a human killed his daughter, not an infected...also, it is implied that he was a member of the Hunters clan and did some nasty stuff to people (Ellie asking him if he did kill a lot of innocence people; Tommy shouting at him that he couldn't stand it anymore with him and Joel defending that it was just to survive).

There must be more places like Tommy's around the world. There must be 'good' people.

What Joel did is in my opinion not after reflecting and thinking about all the possibilities...it was a pure selfish move imo, he just don't want to lose another loved one.

Yeah, exactly. I mean, I can understand that Fireflies could learn about this things from their reseach during the year Joel and Ellie needed to find them. That is ok. But if they knew that immune don't help at all...why put Ellie in hospital gown and narcotize her?? So that is really fishy...why didn't they have a chance to talk to the Fireflies, wait until Ellie wakes up and say..thanks, good bye to all and leave peaceful.

I guess, Ellie knows that he lied. Her face at the end, also says this imo.

At the end, when you see Joel sitting in his car...in this moment not knowing if Ellie is with him or not...this would be another good part to stop the game. This would be like an Inception type ending.

But to be honest, I think that the ending they presented...is just perfect.

I'm happy with the ending. I even shot the doctor before he could pick up the gun.
there was no guarantee they would find the cure by killing her in fact the chances were small.

Yeah, good point. Woke up this morning and remember "It's his daughter". He is certainly "qualified" to weigh the personal losses between losing his daughter (again), and losing 60+% of the population. It probably was an easy decision for him.

No rush to save the douchbags, may cause more fights to break out, and what if they failed ? and all that sound more distant compared to losing his daughter again.

Edit: My favourite part of the game is when they met and team up with Bill.

Joel telling Ellie what he had done to the firefly is bad bad bad idea. Not to mention what he did to Marlene who looked after Ellie for a long time.
