This would be a real contender for GF3Ti500 and Radeon 8500 ... considering that a Kyro II fights with a GF2Pro ...

Do you belive in this rumor ?

it lacks the programibility that the gf3/4 8500 and upcoming cards have...

in pure dx7 static t&l games it may own...

if it's true

would be interesting to play with for sure, but with all the photochops lately it's probably not believable...

hope i'm wrong though

Doesn't really matters now and until next year ...

Who says it's DX7 ? Maybe it's DX8 ... or DX8.1 even ...

Programability seems to be a strong point in new development projects regarding kyro chips as they were capable to improve the K-II with the help of software .... ( that EnT&L is software based IMO .. .)

Also , the HSR capabilities are a huge advantage in complex games as UT2003 and DOOM III .

The doubling of the pipelines and the introduction of the hardware based T&L means EFECTIVELY double the performance of Kyro II or even more ...

Such a chip should definitely be a top performer in most of today's games, would be very nice if it were true! As for DX versions, I believe (based on what I seem to remember from some roadmaps/interviews/etc.) that series 4 would have been the DX8.1 part, thus series 3 is probably DX7 (maybe some DX8 features but I doubt it'd have all), whereas series 5 (in development) aims at DX9...

edit: damn its too late (almost 4am), uhm, maybe Kyro3 is series 4, I might have confused the product-/codenames? I can't quite seem to figure it out, gonna take a nap now... :-?

That pic isn't even real. Anyone who knows how ST Micro codenames it's chips should see it immediately.

I can see from the links that the image appears to be an altered KytoII pic, but could you explain how ST does its codenames?

Unless I missed something in the rumour mill in the past months and ST has updated it's fabs libraries up to snuff there was/is good reason why they used/use TSMC for tasks like that.

You can always proove me wrong though and post a pic of the real thing it's missing from my collection *gasp* ok ok I'm kidding ;)

*cough* that is good news but I woulda thought that would have been a bit hush hush...

Errrr?. It's just a code number, nothing more, and I might be wrong. Also, given that it starts "STG...", it's probably ST's number.

STG 5000 was supposed to be the KYRO 3, saying it is the 5500 implies that they have skipped the first incarnation of series 4 (the 4 pipe non dx8 one), which would be a smart move.

SO what do you think this is ? Photoshop talent or IM R&D talent ?

The pic looks fake, but then it might not be, the codes are different. What we really need to be able to tell is an understanding of the codes on the chips.
