Kutaragi Ken: "WAN Cell Computing"

It wasn't tried, you did nothing. You LET ps3 topics be made. Dont' tell me you cannot delete topics, JUST DELETE ANY NEW ps3 topic.

1. A central place will be formed for ps3 discussion

2. There will be no other pS3 topics on the boards

3. All "flames" are kept into one place.

There is no downfall to this plan. Feel free to make a topic and take a vote on it.

WTF paul i told you i split the topic and kept the part with the flames locked . Then more flames started in the split topic. Feel free to search through the past pages. Second I get bitched at when i lock a topic from everyone . Imagine what happens if i started deleted topics. Then i'd have to delete all the topics that say hey where did my thread go.

1. You would create an announcement stating that only ps3 related stuff would go into the topic. Along with reiterating some other rules.

2. Anyone who doesn't read... tough luck to them, just delete the topic.

What have you got to loose on this, nothing at all.

What do i have to loose. Well i guess it would stop you from crying every second. But then again someone else will start. Pm sonic and ask him. I've already done it and it hasn't worked.

I'm not the one crying about all the PS3 topics if you haven't noticed, it's been you.

I'm simply telling you a solution that would indeed work, I'm helping you here. If your not willing to delete ps3 topics that stray from the official stickied ps3 topic than it's just your fault. Don't bother complaining anymore.

I'm definitely not envious of your position, in fact I truely feel for ya. This is quite the peculiar situations we have and no matter the decision you make someone, somewhere will bitch. It's peculiar since I can see both sides of the argument are equally strong:

  • Each of these Kutaragi articles are independent and deserve their own topic as they cater to a different aspect or side of Cell. To such an extent that conversation on 1 is incompatable with that found on 2, and 3... N.
  • But, I'll be the first to state that we need to preferably cull the PS3/Cell talk, or atleast have a policy of containment for a variety of reasons.

I was originally thinking if Baumann could create a sub-forum within Consoles dedicated to Cell. But then you have the slippery slope where every console needs a subcatagory and it gets all too complicated. But Mr.Wibbles is very correct IMHO and that's something which shouldn't be overlooked or forgotten. It's alot easier on the PC-side where they have forums for each respective catagory - but we truely need a standarized policy dealing with this. Some form of structure and hierarchy would be preferable.

Once again you just don't listen. Tell me what will happen when the topic is about 60pages long and we are discussing about 40 diffrent things all at once. Tell me how many people would enjoy this ? Esp once say 15of those pages are full of flames. Because it wont be that far off from the 30something page old thread. In which i recieve (as stated earlier in this thread) a number of complaints about it being to hard to find info. There were pages full of flames. And the old topic only had the cell pantent and release date to talk about. This one will have even more. But wait now you want me to open up the old topic which was 30 or more pages with flames in it and make it the only topic we can post about ps3 stuff in. That sounds really smart Paul. Oh wait then we'd have dm posting in them too. Yea

Anyone think pauls plan would work on a second try ?

Vince its very simple these 3 topics should be one. They are from the same interview. Also there is not much to talk about. So instead of having 3 posts with 4 replys to each one we'd have 1 post with 12 replys.

Bullshit. So should we discuss the XBox's CPU, GPU, Sound sub-system, Networking capabilities, and the x86 architecture all in one thread? Because that's basically what this is.

And didn't you just post about how hard it is to find info in long threads with many topics being concurrently discussed?

1. 29 pages

2. The topic *turned around* at the 15th page, it was good discussion from then on.

3. There can be as demonstrated by several posts on this board concurrent discussions by 3 or more people in topics, it's called the quote button.

4. Most PS3 stuff is garbage/speculation, WHY should the main page be flooded with seperate topics? Why not just one topic where everything can go?

5. The plan didn't work because you didn't delete new ps3 topics.

Take the plan, thrust it into motion(only you have the power) and watch as there are no more ps3 topics flooding the boards as you just delete them.

Or hell I could tell you a REAL GOOD solution, (permenant) but this is out of a moderators control.

Have the console board, than a Xbox board, PS2 board, and a Gamecube board.

That would be permenant, but unlikely to happen.

My suggestion, and then I'm out. We buy Baumann dinner for two, and a bottle of whatever he chooses. He then creates four new catagories under the Console section so it will look like this:

Consoles

  • Console Talk (restict to game playing)
  • STI's Cell/PlayStation3
  • Microsoft's next XBox
  • Nintendo's next GameCube
  • Other Console Hardware

What you'll find is that you move the hardware talk out of the Console Forum and into the subcatagories. Of which, Cell/PS3 will probably be quite active with the other three significantly below that. I don't know the costs of creating the forum (eg. if it's just traffic/bandwith or what-not), but it might be adventagous.

Perhaps, we could then see more of the traditional PCForum base filter down and discuss the hardware aspects of ATI's customized IC for use in X2 or N5 and maybe talk on Cell (which I think is the most exciting thing in this field at this time) once it goes live in late 2004 - without having to deal with the typical nature and topics of console gaming discussion.

Bastard stole my idea and brought a shitty implimentation of it to market before I could!!! ;)

...

Once again if you post another thread like this you will be band. Keep all these in one thread. You have been warned.
Is this a warning toward me??? Can't I take a joke?

BTW, the virus/worm type malicious code is a serious threat to CELL type computing if you think about it. On traditional architectures, a worm simply could not migrate to another computer in whole, it had to make a copy of itself to the target machine, init it and run, thereby wiping out its original execution context at the originating machine and essentially starting over every time a worm makes a jump.

On the CELL architecute, two linked user nodes form a single multiprocessor system and there is a free migration of processes between each user node, the execution context intact before and after the jump. This makes CELL far more dangerous than traditional architecture. Once one node of a virtual system is infected, almost all nodes of that virtual system are instantly infected as well.

[In a flash of brilliance...] How about we keep the forum categories as they are now, but we add one exclusively for DMGA, Chap, Lazy8 bash topics? (Of course they would be banned from the Console Talk Forum, but we'll just have to try to live with it... ;) ) The CT forum could regain control as a place where people could talk about all consoles in a civil, neutral, informative manner. The DMGA/Chap/Lazy8 forum would allow them (and any others) to unleash any number of bash console xyz topics to their little heart's content. I think that would solve A LOT of problems, right off. Could it work? Could it possibly be?!

Naturally, we could expect them to just change usernames and post in CT, anyway. Obvious troll topics by them would just get automatically sent to the aforementioned "anti-" forum as a solution. As for them infecting existing topics in CT, well if they choose to abuse their membership here, just ban'em by IP address.

Well, that's my solution. I think everyone gets served, but what do I know? :?

That is just one SUPER LAME post. At least Vince and Paul tried to make some nice suggestions, YOU = *yawn* typically the worst "The Others" behavior so far, silly.

Of course, thats what i expected out of you, no less.
