Bush promises Mid-East plan 'soon'

The cycle of violence continues unabated
President George W Bush has promised that the so-called road map for peace between Israel and the Palestinians will be published "soon".
Speaking to the media after a meeting with UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, he said he was "strongly committed" to implementing his vision for peace in the Middle East.

Israelis fear Blair's influence over Bush

Israel protested to Tony Blair yesterday at what it called his "worrying and outrageous" comments linking the war in Iraq to a settlement of the Palestinian conflict, and at Jack Straw's accusations of western double standards over the enforcement of UN resolutions on Israel.

It is time to finish this absurd conflict. IMHO good to see that Bush is listening to Blair.

More about double standards. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/2886975.stm

just remember that Israel has been one of the best friends to the US, other than England and maybe two or three other countries. IMHO it is in Israels interest to solve this conflict and have their people live a more secure life. With a new prime minister in charge of palastenians, this will more than likely happen in 2-3 years.

Does anyone have any SOLID facts on what the time plan might include/duration. Id like to know more about it. but havent found good sources yet.

later,

Um, in what way is Blair steering Bush that Bush hasn't made clear is one of his goals in the past, including a palestinian state?

IMHO good to see that Bush is listening to Blair.

Bush announced the road map for the Middle East as soon as the new PM of Palestine was announced. It is my understanding that this is something that both Blair and Bush have been working on together for awhile now. Both parties are firm in their decision to wait until both Israel and the Palestinians have ceased fighting long enough to listen.

But, I'll give a Kudos out to Blair anyway. He ain't bad, for a Brit ;)

I encourage any efforts in solving the Isreal-Palestine conflict. But as long as Yassir and Sharon remain in power I remain pessemistic. Neither has shown any real intent to solve the problem.

It's even sadder why they can't. Not believing in the cause is one thing but the fact that they face assisnation from their own side - that is really sad.
