Hydro Thunder finally gets an update (arcade only for now)

H2Overdrive is without a doubt a current-gen Hydro Thunder game. It's for arcades only as of now but with any luck it'll be released on Xbox 360 and PS3 later this year.

H2Overdrive runs at 60 FPS and it'll be shown at the ATEI show in London next week.

Haven't watched the gameplay videos yet, but is it just me or does it look like, based on the screenshots, that the boat actually doesn't react with the water at all? (excluding some splash effects layered on)

edit:
any videos at different sources? the flash version doesn't seem to load anything, just sits at the 'loading screen animation', and wmv version loads, but slooooooowly

Seems that way. I didn't see any sort of "fluid-dynamics"in the videos either. (judging from other things like the very low resolution textures on the side of the tracks this doesn't seem to be running on the most top of the range arcade harware anyway)
I still like the look. Brings back memories.

H2Overdrive is clearly 'last-gen' in terms of visuals and physics. It's something you'd expect to see between 2001 or 2003 in arcades or on last-gen consoles. A nice upgrade over Hydro Thunder, but certainly not state-of-the-art.

I loved playing Hydro Thunder in the arcade. After getting a PS2 I was excited to find the PS1 version of the game. Then I was sad to see the awful resolution. I hope the new version doesn't disappoint, but as others have said it doesn't look to be state of the art.
