I know heating issues are real but come on I heard some of you say that nintendo should use run of the mill laptop CPU or a modified(when released) 6 year old chip. Come on I don't expect for it to be a CELL but come on Revolution should be more powerful than a current high end computer.

the new nintendo system will be the last one out and most likely will be released in fall of 06' . By this time 65nm could be ready for prime time .

They can make a chpi similar in power to the xenon and cell chip while making it smaller and produce less heat .

There are also diffren't ram types they can go with which has been speculated to produce less heat than either xdr or gddr ram .

The gpu can also be produced in 65nm if its ready at that time . So they can produce something similar to the xenos in power but will use less energy and produce less heat .

ALso lets not forget that they will most likely be sticking with 480p which means they can do 3 times the work per pixel as they could at 720p and more than that if they were doing 1080p with the same hardware .

So there are many reasons why the new nintendo system can put out the same quality grpahics if not better (although at a lower res) and still keep the size of the case so small

The Revolution will not be anywhere near as powerful as Xbox360 or PS3. There are many reasons for this, the main ones being: cost(of course!) and size. Nintendo is focusing on innovating and creating new experiences(similar to the DS's strategy) instead of more power. A developer working on games for the Revolution recently call it a "GC Turbo". I for one welcome this. If the Revolution is truly a completely new experience and priced reallly competitively, it will make the perfect side-console to go along with my Xbox 360 :)

yeah didn't know that about pixel load....

What about the cubemapped pre-rendered graphics(that take little GPU power to pull off) at 480p but with a PPU releiving the stress on the CPU.

Just because someone tells you something you don't want to hear doesn't make them a "troll". If you knew me, you'd know I am one of the biggest Nintendo fans there is. You sir are a delusional fan boy if you think the Revolution will be anywhere in the same galaxy of the PS3 or the Xbox360 when it comes to power. Statements from Nintendo have indicated as much aswell. If you were a true Nintendo fan, power wouldn't be that important to you anyway. It's all about the gameplay my friend, all about the gameplay ;)

Red-phase you should go into read only mode and read up on this forum . Get a feel for the knowledge lvl of this board . Coming in here and posting old topics and rehashing old arguements and then calling members trolls is not going to allow you to last long on this forum

Anyway . 480p has a third of the pixels as 720p i believe. Which means the same hardware can do 3 times the work per pixel at 480p than it can at 720p .

Those specs you listed are someones dream. Nintendo is sticking with a lower res because they will have the weaker system . Will it be by leaps and bounds ? No but it will be the weakest . However this is made up for by the fact that its asked to render in a much lower res .

Any function a gpu can do at 720p it should be able to do faster and more of it at 420p
