How much more performance do you get out of optimization?

I can tell you for a fact the size was a cost issue.
There was an email that went around from inside MS support to devs before the hardware was final, asking how important making it bigger was. The support engineer had to send out apologies to people on the list when it was deemed impractical because of cost factors.
 
I've worked on porting "optimized" HD-console codebase(locked 60fps game) to PC, where we ended up improving performance of PC version by 4x+ (required to meet minimum spec).

Can you go into more detail about it, or there's NDA? ;)


What exactly do you mean by 4x perfomance? 4x the fps for the same game detail/complexity or...?
