The misconception comes from the idea that PS5 cannot run ML inference models due to a lack of packed INT8/4 capability.

That's a misconception right there. The point was always about performance of running the ML code without accelerated INT8/INT4 instructions.

The misconception comes from the idea that PS5 cannot run ML inference models due to a lack of packed INT8/4 capability. Miles Morales does do ML inference at runtime for muscle deformation on PS5.

You don't need Tensor core to run inference, you don't even need INT4/8. You can do it with FP16 with CU.

Maybe before they startnig ml they could figure out vrr support (not to mention 40fps fidelity mode uncapped)

VRR and the role of this developer have nothing in common. He is game AI developer but hot takes and maybe a misunderstanding of how game development works.

We've known since last year you can run ML inference on PS5's GPU.

You can run ML inference on PS4 or even PS3 hardware. Heck even mobile games do (on-device ML). Doing some muscles (lol) is a different thing to reconstructing an internal renderer at 1080p to an image that looks as good if not better than native 4k with almost no performance loss is a different cake though, as can be other use for ML/AI.

Using Machine Learning to optimize mobile game experiences (firebase.blog)

Without dedicated ML inference acceleration its going to be tough to do more serious work i think.

40fps and vrr support comming later ! (late but glad they listened)

I have pixel counted one pic (not on this video) at 1728p. Not sure if it's still with CBR.

they realy fixed 60fps mode !
Did they remove the foliage and trees moving in the wind? I have not paid attention while playing, but is the wind dynamic so that it does not always blow?
In that video with the new patch, the trees and foliage are still so they don't shimmer.
