Half-Life 2 what?...gameplay pushed farther than ever before: Far Cry 2

My main problem with this game is that they are calling it Far Cry 2.

It has nothing to do with the original Far Cry developers. From what I can tell the only thing it has in common is that it's a FPS in a tropical setting. Why did they have to call it Far Cry? They weren't confident enough to create a new IP?

I would be more excited about this game if it were a new IP. As it stands now I feel like they are just trying to cash in on the reputation of the respected original game Far Cry.

Why do you care if they reuse IP? It doesn't have any effect on the quality of the game. I wouldn't care if they called it 'llama surprise' or something equally ridiculous. As long as the game was solid I'd enjoy it just as much.

Anyways this looks like its shaping up to be a pretty dam good game. Africa setting is awesome, so much shit goes down there and yet there's no games that explore it so that's welcome. Free form game play also looks great. If the story ends up with some depth then this game could be really killer, right up there with Fallout 3.

The gameplay looks killer. You can shoot an ammo box and bullets will fly in random directions.

Ugh, I thought this would be a game with plausible game rules all the way. I guess not.
