Half Life 2 Modders Question...

Forgive me if I posted this in the wrong forum

I was wondering with the tight integration with Steam and HL2, is valve capable of of tracking your progress as you build mods, scripting, maps, textures etc.? Ive finished all the layout of my mod idea and ready to implement but I was a little concerned when I heard that Valve *may* use steam to access some areas (scripting, maps, etc) in the development of mods? Now this is purely rumor and I'm not claiming anything sinister. I just wanted to know if there is any truth to the claim? I have found no mention of it in the EULA unless I missed something. I have emailed valve both regular and sdk department with this question but have yet to receive a response. Any info would be appreciated.

I would suppose that, although the mods are for their games using their tools it would still amount to copyright theft, though i havent played with the tools yet and havent read the EULA's ;)

I own a legit copy of the game so i decided to save a few minutes of my life. :D

Valve has stated on multiple occasions that modders will have the option of charging for their creations which will be advertised and distributed through steam (with a percentage of the profits going to Valve of course).

As far as monitoring your work, no. That would be a breach of privacy.
