Graphics in ten years

ya they may look good but i bet well still be playing the same regergitaded games over and over and over but at least they look good ....
It is hard these days to try something new. Few publishers will bother to fund something totally new, since they deem it more risky. But there always do seem to be a few games that stand out.

Anyway, games are progressing in many ways besides just graphics. For example, if you've played UT2k4, you should realize that it's much more than graphics that sets it apart from other FPS games. As another example, I've been way into the RPG's by Bioware and Black Isle. On average, their games have progressively improved over the years, not just in graphics, but in gameplay as well.

For Immediate Release: "Toy Story Graphics In Real-Time...almost there!"

.....
Do you think that it would work well with an AMTEL processor?

Bah I was hoping for better vertex rate in 10 year time we still won't be able to do 1 triangle per-pixel.

What can a chip with 5.5 B transistors and 32GB memory do???: :oops:
Nvidia looking ahead:

Whats fucking scary is: 2 years and we'll be at half a million trannys for videocards alone, what kind of monsterous cooling would that thing need?

I noticed that nowhere on that slide is "power consumption". ;)

Umh..? We can do a triangle per pixel now at low resolution, so I can't see how we will not be able to do a triangle per pixel in the next 10 years.

If you make a GPU out of 0.5M transistors I salute you! ;)

Woah, I wonder what we'll be storing on our 30 Terbyte hard drives in 2014?? ;)

And by then we will have 32 Gigabyte Graphics boards!! :oops:

In 2030 Explorer will suck 20TB of your system RAM, Norton Antivirus will keep 15TB for itself.

WindowsXP2030 will come in BlueRay5 format and will need 200TB to install.

I think we only need 640Kb of Ram to satisfy any computing need....

And I do not dare to think of how big downloadable device drivers will be...

Lovely specs - but what would the top end cards released each year be able to do in real time in laymens terms?

if we could invent now what we would invent next year
what does that make to what we will have left to invent next year ?

It's just some extrapolation of numbers nothing of real value for layman.

Look instead at unreal engine and look at what we'll do in 2 years with the technology of today.

Maybe we get some sort of "hardcore mode" where you acctually die IRL aswell.. hehe
Scary, but i like the idea.

Maybe the world will be like in Shatners "TEK WAR" in 10 years :LOL:

In ten years video game graphics will be of a quality that of todays best renders.

Battlefield game looking like this;

Racing game like this;

I don't think HL2 or Duke Nukem Forever will be released by then. I'm hoping for a Summer 2015 release myself. :)

You prolly can forget and wait " Duke Nukem Forever " for ever !

On the third slide it says 2004 90nm 271m transistors :!: nv45?

I think the Oil Peak will be well into play by then (note Royal Dutch Shell lately for example)

it also says 130M transistors in 2002, but we know that chip didn't really come out until the next summer.
