Gran Turismo 6

Just came back from my trip to find my copy of GT5 waiting for me. Popped it in and OMG, it requires 23 updates !!!!
Lets just play offline for a few days, I guess !

BTW, th eopening videos of races gave me goosebumps :p ! Are those replay mode graphics or CG? That was a spectacular start ! Will race when I get time !

some of them were important if I remember correctly ... if you have reasonably good internet speed just let it update
 
Don't know what version he has ... As long as its Spec 2, it's ok. That one contained some decent performance and shadow improvements ...

Persevere with Special Events and to a lesser extent the driving tests to get money and cars much faster than with career mode (and if you are like me, with more fun). Don't let the early one with the lotus on the top gear track dissuade you, because its a toughie. Take it easy and go (and settle) for bronze.
 
I have the platinum version, dunno if it has spec2.0 or not. Is there any way to know? I have put it on updating, but I am over my bandwitdth limit for this month, so down to 512kbps. Can't expect to accomplish much at that speed.

And , btw, now that I have played the gt6 demo, the lack of tesselation on cars is so damn noticeable . I fired up a quick race on a randomn track in arcade mode to check out th egame and , i can see ugly poly edges on premium cars while the gt6 demo has superbly smooth sublime curves :cry: !
 
Are you sure its not second hand cars you're looking at?

It should say spec 2 somewhere in the screen, and there's also a regular version number. You don't have to hurry to update, you won't finish the game overnight or even in a month ;)

It was a premium car.

Anyways, dived inot the A spec mode and all I can say is : Fantastic Game ! Absolutely ! :cool:
 
You may want to experiment with traction control settings. Slower cars or cars that are not very easy to spin out you don't have to think about - you'll want TCS and ASM to be off (TCS set to 0). This tends to give you a slight speed boost / edge in turns. May just be what you need on the flip streaming test.

ASM is off, so is that other steering assist. Traction control must be at its default value as I didn't tamper with it. Skid recovery force is also off. Will try it again with traction control off nexxt time.

License tests are cool as you get to drive diverse premium cars on diverse tracks, but u don't earn any money, though. Its good that these aren't mandatory like in gt4. I remember feeling bored when the game made me do these tests instead of racing. Now that these are optional, I am actually enjoying them and learning too. Human mind is a weird thing :) !

BTW, to all those fretting over gt6 academy's aliasing, gt5 is full off jaggies too. Also, car geometry looks much worse in gt5 thanks to tesselation in gt6. Gt6 seems to be an improvement in every way: in terms of lighitng,much much better shadowing, superb tesselation on cars, much improved smoke(no more low res artifacts around car geometry) and the much better suspension model and more responsive steering. Maybe you guys have forgotten what gt5 looked like. Playing it for the first time now, after having played gt6 academy, gt5 looks like the uglier sister !
 
Yes, but don't forget you have some updates coming still ;)

Special Events are like advanced Licences, except they give more XP AND money ;)
 
The producers of Fifty Shades of Grey are going to steer Gran Turismo movie.

I wonder what the game has to do with a series of books that soooo many people love -though in my case I have been always so uninterested on these books that I have not even stop and read the summary in the back in most of them- and Christian Grey and a red room and stuff. But if they did that there has to be a reason.

Well at least we don't have to worry about them ruining anything, since there's nothing there to be ruined.
 
Ok, I managed to get some updates done for GT5 , still around 17 or 18 left. The main menu screen does not say anything Spec 2.0 but when I checked the game data, it says Version 2.0.

So is this Spec 2.0? The last update was something like 1192 mb or so.
 
Yes that is spec 2. The game got quite a lot better after that update... but it's still disappointing. I'm hoping GT6 delivers, it better be considering where the competition will be at.

Well Gamespot says u get cockpit view for standard cars in the Spec 2.0 update , so I switched to the cockpit view in my Civic and all I got was a black cutout for the car interior :oops: ! No model , no textures, just a black cutout ! Is something wrong ? Am I missing some data ?
 
Nope. Thats how the cockpit view is for the standard cars except for the cars that dont have a ceiling. The latter show some details
