I'd guess that's mostly speculation.
A lot of reliable people in the forums indicate that the NV34 is 0.13
And wasn't it said somewhere, I don't remember who, that the NV40 was around 150M transistors?
Many things do make sense, however.

Uttar

About the only thing that makes sense to me w.r.t. rv350 is lower cost and higher profit margins(possible hw fixes?). Current 9500 non-pro can be had for $140 and prices bound to drop even more once the high end competition heats up. Was there a reason for ati to come out with 9000/9100 cards? Why not just stay with 8500(I know dumb name). All these name changes and unknown clocks just confuse things. The rv350 will confuse things further if it isn't a better card than existing 9500/9700 cards. I watch this stuff so I know what's going on but joe average?

Do you guys also feel that nvidia will phase out gffx ultra and go with non-ultra vs. 9700pro and that the two will be head to head once nvidia gets their drivers sorted out? I think then r350 will beat gffx for 3 to 5 months but when r400/nv40 come out they will probably be even. I knew vs/ps 3 would be in r400, but I was hoping they'd be in r350 as well. Shader wise gffx will beat r350, speed wise ati card will win I think.

problem for Nvidia is, NV40 wont be out anywhere near the time that R400 is out. the best NVidia is gonna have to face R400 is their NV35.

NV35 = early/late summer - R400 = late summer/early fall

NV40 = sometime in 2004

yeah DX10 won't be out until fall 2004 with MS Longhorn from what i recall. could be wrong though.

that's when R500 should be avail :D

Radeon 8500 60 million transistors

Radeon 9000 36 million transistors, plus 2and dac in die

Can you say........ MONEY??!!!

edit: btw, The 9100'S are 8500's....ATI is just disposing of leftover R200's

Nope, definitely a 256-bit bus.

DEFINITELY. :)

MuFu.

I am looking at a diagram of the NV35 PCB right now and it's awfully cluttered for something with a 128-bit memory bus. ;)

MuFu.

P.S. Check your PM.

Yah - wish I had a picture because that'd make it clear whether it is a 128MB or 256MB board. No silicon to put in the PCBs yet anyway.

MuFu.
