true they mightnt achieve it (just look at the intel p4 underachivement) but extrapolating a bit its possible that 1000+ core machines will be available before 2020.
3 possible senerios
A/ no need for graphics cards since the cpu is fast enuf to emulate it
B/ the flexibility of gpu's increase so much they are in fact as powerful as cpu's
C/ the status quo
so instead of ati vs nvidia + intel vs amd i see a for way horse race developing
ati vs nvidia vs intel vs amd ( no doubt one will drop out, i see intel buying one of the graphics companies )
