Not only that, but i have 50 invites, which means i practically will have 100GB of space on the web all for me once they get to their 2GB limit target.

Personally i don't know, they seem to want to limit the service, but then give away invites (50 to me and everyone i know who has a gmail account) for members to get more members in...
I guess that's still less than opening up the service like Hotmail, which now has a gazillion of addresses, many of which are not even used (mine isnt)

Second, no. You may not store illegal copyrighted files in your gmail account (though how would they know if you stick it all in an archive for example?)
Third, well, it's FREE. How reliable do you expect it to be? I personally wouldn't use it as my sole backup copy of anything important...
