I've heard the 2D quality of GF4MX is excellent, equals to Matrox's cards.
Is it true ? (for those who bought this card)
Or is it true only for some card manufacturers ? Winfast, Visiontek...
gf2/mx 2d speed is quite fine...quality can depend on the components the makers use...aka real cheapo 3rd party no name manufacturers can have crap quality.
Matrox has a good 2d quality and speed...course they have little to no decent 3d acceleration
Kyro based chips have good pretty 2d but it aint fast by any recognition.
Old 3dfx 2d cores were fast and pretty...nuff said.
ATI cards generally have fast and pretty 2d colors barring any driver bugs (HA!)
Newer nvidia cards have fast 2d ...its just with nvidia quality of the 2d has varied a lot. Nvidia tried to down makers when it came out with the gf3 to its reference design so their 2d quality would be better...but it still varies.
